Shiro took a deep breath as he stood outside Curtis's dorm door. He told himself to relax. It was just a date, it didn't HAVE to mean anything else if he didn't want it to. It's not like they have to get married or anything.

"You just going to stand there or knock?" A voice from the other side teased him.

Shiro chuckled and shook his head lightly before knocking. Right away Curtis opened the door. Shiro's eyes went wide when he saw Curtis. He was wearing a nice white button up shirt with blue pants, he had a matching jacket he was holding over his shoulders.

"About time you knocked. I got ready way too early and I've been sitting here ever since." He laughed before closing the door and locking it. "So... first date in a while?"

"Yeah, you could say that. Didn't exactly go on many dates in space." Shiro chuckled as they walked down the hallway. "Everyone was a bit..."

"Young or female?" Curtis filled in the blank. "Don't worry, I'm sure you still got it in you. What do we got planned?" Curtis opened the door for Shiro as they exited the building.

"I think I'm suppose to open those for you..." Shiro crossed his arms.

"You can try, but I think I'll always get there first." Curtis winked.

Shiro rolled his eyes playfully before walking through. "I got a reservation at an Altean restaurant." He told him. "It was the one place that was recommended by everyone, they say it has a lovely balcony we can eat on. Maybe after we can explore this place a bit."

"Sounds fun to me." Curtis said. "I can't believe this place actually still exists." He looked at Shiro. "Did you ever get to see it?"

"No, it was destroyed long before myself and the Paladins arrived." Shiro said. "I did see pictures that Allura showed though. It looked lovely, but this planet is beyond lovely."

They arrived at the building, where they took an elevator together all the way up to the top floor where the fancy restaurant would be.

"Don't you touch that door." Curtis teased as Shiro reaches out to try and get the door for them to enter the restaurant. Curtis grabbed it for them instead.

"I said, I can get the doors. I asked you on this date, you should be enjoying yourself instead of getting doors." He walked through.

"What if I enjoy myself by getting doors?" Curtis said.

"Well then you should get a job as a door holder." Shiro laughed. "Cause the Atlas certainly doesn't have any doors to open."

"What can I say, deep down I am truest a gentleman." Curtis said in a fancy British accent.

"Show off." Shiro teased. "Table for two, on the balcony please. The name is Takashi."

"So your from Japan right?" Curtis questioned as the Altean lady lead them to their seats.

"Yes. Born and raised, for a scholarship to come to the garrison to study being a space pilot. Before that I was a crop duster. I've been flying ever since I can remember. When I was very little I got a remote control plane for my birthday."

"Is flying all it cracks up to be? Do you feel free?" Curtis asked as they were shown their table, and Curtis got Shiro's chair.

"I should really be getting your chair." Shiro tried to argue, but Curtis insisted and Shiro sat down.

"So do you feel free? Cause I always felt stressed in the simulations." Curtis continues on the conversation. "That's why I don't do the flying."

"Yeah you could say I feel free... strange right?" Shiro said. "I taught Keith how to first fly, we would practice every weekend in the desert on bikes."

"So did you like adopt him or something?" Curtis asked.

"Well sort of..." Shiro said. "I kinda just took him under my wing. He was all alone, his father had died. I gave him a chance here at the garrison and made sure to always be there for him. He is very closed off, and it took him a while to even open up for me. But after he stole my car we had a long time to talk." He chuckled.

"Wait! He stole your car?" Curtis laughed. "A twelve year old stole you car?"

"Well I thought it would be fine to leave it running in an elementary school parking lot."

"Bet you always lock your car now right?" Curtis said.

"I always double check, especially when I went places with Keith." Shiro laughed and looked down at the menu. "I have no clue jay any of this is."

"I can't even read it." Curtis laughed.

"Should we have them surprise us?" Shiro questioned.

"Yeah." Curtis nods. "That sounds like a good plan. Let's just hope we don't get sick from it." He looked up at the stars in the night sky. "This place is amazing, you choose good."

"Can I take your order?" An Altean girl came up to their table.

"Yes, surprise us. Best two things on the menu." Shiro ordered and gave her back the menus.

"If it's disgusting I'm blaming you." Curtis said.

"Whatever." Shiro rolled his eyes playfully. "I'm sure it will be fine."

Their food was brought out shortly and it looked and smelt amazing. Curtis's was real good, and Shiro's was not at all good. So they ended up sharing Curtis's together. After they went on a walk around the building gardens. Halfway through the walk Curtis slowly grabbed Shiro's wrist to stop him.

"Look over here." Curtis said as he lead him to a little balcony they could look over a valley of Juniberry flowers, they were all closed up, so it was a dark field with tiny dots of purple in them. "It's pretty..."

"Yeah it is." Shiro said, blushing softly as Curtis moves his hand from his wrist into his fingers, holding his hand gently as they stared out at the vast valley together.

"Shiro, why me? Why ask me on a date? There are a million people on the Atlas, and I hardly even talk to you." Curtis questioned.

"I'm not sure..." Shiro said. "It was when I saw you cheering me on in the arm wrestling tournament, you caught my eye. Then you talked to me, and I couldn't get you off my mind. I thought I would at least try and get to know you better."

"Hmm... well I was just going to ask you out cause I thought you were cute." Curtis chuckled. "'Makes me sound like a player or something."

"Well I'm glad we meet. And we had this time." Shiro smiled at him as he looked into his eyes, he hadn't realized that Curtis had been staring at him the whole time.

Curtis then reached over to cup Shiro's cheek, he paused like he was hesitant for what was about to happen. Then he continued onward and kissed him on the lips gently. Shiro smiled against the kiss and kissed him back sweetly. Curtis was the first to pull away, stepping back.

"Hope that was alright Captain." Curtis's cheeks were blushing slightly as he looked down, he couldn't get a smile off his face.

"It was perfectly alright." Shiro smiled back at him.

Curtis looked up at him, his face blushing pink, the stars reflecting off his eyes. "Then I suppose it would be alright if I do it again?"

"I think that's an order." Shiro chuckled, stepping forward so they could kiss again.
