Chapter thirty seven(a)

I came out of the tent in the morning and stretched.

"Are you up?" his Majesty asked coming out from behind the tent.

"Yes, did your Majesty sleep well?"

"Yes and my lady?"

"Yes thanks to your Majesty's care"
"How nice would it be to live here" i said stretching more.
"Away from the crowded capital and.. and.."

"The palace" he finished.
"When royal father was alive i had the dream of living with my family outside the palace"
I turned to look at him.
"I know so much to ask for as the crown prince"
"Wear your uniform let's go for a hunt" he said.

"I don't know how to"

"I will teach you"

After hours of being under the shining sun, we caught only three birds and one rabbit.

"Your Majesty i don't think this forest has much to offer"

"It is a restricted area for the royal family's hunt, so they are hiding somewhere"

We separated ways again.
I sighted a boar after some time but it looked really furious for no reason.
I raised my bow to shoot at it but it charged at me before i could, i turned in time and started running for my life.

"Your Majesty" i screamed.
"Your Majesty" i screamed even louder dropping my arrows.
And in my worst nightmare i tripped.
"Baek ah" i screamed.
Just when i was about to fall his Majesty shot the boar with his arrow.

"My lady are you okay?"he said standing over me.

"Yes i think so"

"I think i heard you call me something"

"Baeeekk ahhhh " i said covering my face with my palms.
He stretched his hand to help me up.

"Pardon?"

"Baek ahn nim(my)" i said making circles with my toe shyly.
"Even though he isn't really mine" i said standing straight.

"It wouldn't be so hard, all you have to do is ask my Queen"

We walked to the shore after that.
"You wanted to come here?" I asked.

"You are all muddy, i should wash you"

"Wash? me?"

"Yes follow me"
We got into the cold sea till the water was reaching our knees.

He cleaned my face and hair while fetching the water with his hands.
"Dirty wife" he said.

"Me?"
He nods in confirmation.
I was about to narrow my eyes but i decided to do something better.

I fetched the water and splashed it to his face.
He stopped in his tracks with a shocked expression.
'It was priceless'

"You will regret it " he said stepping back.
My smile disappeared suddenly.

"Forgive me" i bent to bow as a precaution.
Splash!
I lifted my head to see him with folded sleeves.
Splash! Using both hands.

Splash! I retaliated, but he was faster.
"Do you regret it?"

"No"
Splash! I covered my face with my arms.

"Do you?"

"No"
Splash! Splash! Splash!

"Ahhh it's cold" i screamed.

Splash! Splash!

"I yield" i whispered clenching my teeth.

"What?"
Splash!

"I yield, i yield" i said out loud.

"Now who is the winner?"

"Goguryeo wang (king)"

"And who lost to him?"
I shut my eyes to say it.

"Me"

I woke up in the middle of the night to his Majesty's voice.
"Royal father"
"Royal father" he repeated with his eyes closed.

"Your Majesty" i said shaking him a bit.
He opened his eyes immediately and sat up.

"Did i wake u up?" He asked.

"Was it a bad dream?"

"Not really"
"I am just fighting with my conscience"
"I wasn't in the palace when royal father passed, he kept asking for me but i only came back when it was too late"
"If i will ever do half of what he has done for this nation, i would have paid for my sin"
"But..."

"Your Majesty you are doing more than enough and your best, i am a witness to that"
"I also have faith you are capable of achieving more than what he has"

He said squeezing my hand.
"You should go back to sleep"

I laid on my side to fall asleep when i heard him say.
"If i have a son, i will pass down the skills i learnt from royal father and a lot more"

"And if she turns out to be a girl?" I asked still facing the tent.

"Uhmm a princess will do just fine if she will be like you"
