Chapter thirty eight(a)

"Royal mother?"
"How?" I asked surprised.

"She went to visit the late king's grave"

"His tomb is not in the palace?"

"No it's not"

"Who is it?" His Majesty asked.

"We don't know yet"

"I will change back to my uniform"

The King's POV.

"Your Majesty where did you disappear to?" Queen mother asked while i was pacing the court.

"I had some business to take care of "

"Your Majesty they have sent a letter" the court minister said coming in.
"They request you come to this location alone"
"And the location is Ahn hyun ki's home"
Queen mother didn't look surprised, her expression remained the same.

"Call for a meeting"

We sat in the meeting room to discuss.
"I hope your Majesty isn't considering going alone"
"Give us some time we will find out where she has been hidden" the commander said.

"Firstly the royal guards should please step out" i said referring to my lady.
After she hesitantly left i began.

"I am going alone"
"The General should survey the area and the number of guards in his house"
"And he should stand outside until i call for him"

"We can't let you go alone" the commander said.

"It is a royal command"

"What is important is ending this war" the General said.

"The court minister and commander will work with other officials to find evidence for her abduction"
"And after this i will definitely put an end to it"

I met my lady standing outside so i walked to somewhere private.

"Your Majesty"
"Don't tell me you intend to go"

"My lady i want you to promise me you won't leave the palace"

"How can i stay still when your Majesty's life is on the line"

"I can't afford to put both of you in danger"
She remained quiet for some time in thought.

"If it puts your Majesty at ease, i promise i won't go in"
I knew it was the best i could get so i replied.

I and the commander escorted his Majesty to the outer gate.

"The sun is setting, wouldn't it be safer in the morning?"

"The best time is during the night" he replied as he stood by his horse.
The General walked over to where we stood.
"Your Majesty there are layers of guards in the house, most of them disguised as servants"

'Let's find another way' i wanted to say but the General was present.

"It will be alright" his Majesty assured.

"Are we really letting him go alone?" the commander inquired after they rode off.

"Of course not"

The King's POV.

"Surrender your weapons" one of the guards said in front of the house.
I handed over my sword.

"I hope there aren't people lurking around"

"This person will wait here, i will need him later" i said referring to the General.

"I didn't know you were bold enough to come here, your Majesty" Ahn hyun ki said when i entered his library.
"Please sit"
"I will go straight to the point"
"I want your majesty to fulfill two requests"

"Before anything i would have to confirm if she is alive and well"

"Yes but she isn't anywhere close"

"Until then" i said getting up.

"I thought your Majesty has understood the situation by now"
"It is not i who needs something desperately from your Majesty"
"Your life and her Highness's are in my hands"

"Someone is waiting outside, send for a guide"

"You are in no position to give orders" he said hitting his fist on the table.
