Peyton POV:
It's the next day and I'm in Cat's office so she can look at my finger before practice in a couple minutes.
"How's it feeling" Cat asks once I enter the room
"It still hurts a lot, especially when I put pressure on it, and it's still black and blue and swollen" I tell her as she takes the tape off of it
"It will be swollen for a couple of days but I'll give you ice to help it go down and help with the pain" she says grabbing a bag of ice for me
"Thanks" I say when she hands me the bag of ice
"No problem, do you want me to tape it again to your middle finger or do you want a splint?"
"Honestly probably a splint so it's more protected" I tell her
"You got it" she says turning around and grabbing the finger splint and slipping it right on my finger. "I have some good new for you" she adds once she's done putting the splint on my finger
"And what's that" I ask
"You should be able to play in the next game"
"Wait really!" I say happy
"Yea, I'm gonna have you sit out of practice today but then starting tomorrow you can start throwing and see how it feels and we will go from there" She explains

Practice just ended, I didn't do much I just stood next to Coach during all the drills. I hate not being able to play because it's the sport I fell in love with, but I'm just happy I'll be able to play again in a couple of days.
It's almost 12 so Paige should be getting back any minute so I'm currently walking to the basketball facility so I'm there when she gets back.
About 10 minutes later paparazzi show up to the facility to catch the team when they arrive. Which I don't understand how videoing people walking off a bus is entertaining but whatever.
I keep my distance from them hoping they don't notice me because then they will walk over and ask me a bunch of questions and I'm honestly not in the mood for questions right now.
I text Paige "there's paparazzi waiting outside the facility for you guys to get back" just so she knows
And she answers "Ok. I'll let Chase know. We are like 2 min away so I'll see you soon"
Shortly after the UConn bus pulls down the street which makes the paparazzi get excited so they start videoing the bus which makes me laugh as I stay leaning against the building waiting for them to get off since they pulled right in front of the entrance.
The first one off is Chase and he noticed me so he waves which makes me smile as I wave back. Next are the coaches that come off and they walk over to the side of the bus to grab their bags.
After them, the players start coming off as Evina is first, the paparazzi tries to get closer to them but Chase holds them back.
I start walking towards the bus as all the players start coming off, waiting for Paige and I swear she's like the last one off because everyone else is getting their bags from under the bus but her.
But then I hear her say "Will you hurry up" as Nika is in front of her walking down the steps of the bus.
"Stop rushing me" Nika complains back to Paige which makes me laugh. They act like long lost siblings.
Paige finally makes it off the bus and is looking around trying to find me I'm assuming. And once she locks eyes with me she starts running over to me, so I start jogging to her so we can meet in the middle and once we do she wraps me up in a giant hug.
"I missed you" she says softly still hugging me
"I missed you too" I say still holding her.
Once we pull apart Geno says, "if only you'd run that fast in a game" to Paige which makes me laugh
"What?! It's called conserving energy" Paige fights back
"Yea, yea, whatever makes you sleep at night" Geno says as he walks past us and into the building
"Here's your bag your majesty" Nika says to Paige dropping her bag beside her which makes me laugh again
"Hi Peyton" Nika says with a big smile looking at me
"Hi Nika" I say giving her a quick hug
Once we pull away Nika then quickly turns to Paige and starts slapping her arm playfully "Did you see that, Peyton just gave me a hug" Nika says excitedly which makes me laugh
"Yea I did" Paige says laughing too before turning to me "I gotta put my bag inside but then how about we go on that date we talked about before I left" she adds
"Ooo a date" Nika interrupts which makes Paige look at her and then she says "Ok, I'm gonna go inside now" which makes both of us laugh
"I think that's a great idea because I already planned it" I say
"Oh did you now" Paige says wrapping her arms around my waist
"I did" I say with a smile wrapping my arms around her neck
"I would kiss you right now if there weren't paparazzi videoing the both of us as I speak" she says softly
"Then how about we go inside" I say which makes her smile
"Don't gotta tell me twice" she says grabbing her bags and extending her hand for me to take which I happily do as we walk inside the basketball facility and into the locker room so she can put her bag away
