Chapter 79

Peyton POV:

It's the next day and me and Paiges family are at her game vs Syracuse. As we are waiting for the game to start this father and daughter come walking up the steps to their seats. The daughter seems like she's in high school, wearing a Uconn shirt. As they walk up the steps the dad turns to look at me.

"Hey, I like your shirt" he says making the daughter turn around to see who he's talking to

"Oh thanks" I say looking down at the shirt I'm wearing and notice it's one only the players get

"Where did you get it if you don't mind me asking? I've only seen the players wear it" he asks

"Dad, do you know who you're talking to" the daughter says standing next to him

"Yea a nice young lady" he says which makes me laugh silently

"No, that's Peyton, Paige's girlfriend" the daughter says

"Oh, I didn't realize, it's nice to meet you" the dad says

"It's nice to meet you too" I say with a smile "And this shirt is Paige's so I think your right that they don't sell it to fans" I add

"Oh, that makes sense" he says with a small laugh "well it was nice to meet you, and go huskies!"

"It was nice to meet you too!" I say being friendly

At halftime we are winning 26-41. It's been a pretty good game so far. I wish Nika was out there with them though.

Syracuse has pocession of the ball right now and UConn is in zone defense. Syracuse tries to pass the ball but Paige blocks it making it a lose ball. As Paige tries to get pocession of the ball she falls to the ground holding her face.

"Oh no" I say standing up from my seat

The play continues to happen with Syracuse finally getting a layup which then leads toward a timeout on the court to check on Paige.

Paige immediately gets up after the whistle asking for the athletic trainer still holding her face.

"I think she has a bloody nose" I say

"Yea I think so too, because she keeps looking at her hand after she pulls it away from her face, probably looking for any blood" her mom adds

Paige goes over to the bench where Nika immediately runs over in her boot to check on her. Paige leans down and holds her knees as Nika rubs her back. Janelle shortly runs over with a towel and holds it to Paiges face.

On the Jumbotron they show the play where Paige got hurt and it's clear that she got hit in the nose with someone else's elbow. It looks like she is fine though because shortly after she walks back out onto the court, looking in our direction and giving us a thumbs up, telling us she's okay.

Uconn ends up winning 47-83. Paige had 20 points, 3 steals, and 4 assists so she had a great game. As the team is heading to the bus after the game, Paige stops and hugs all of us again.

"How's your nose" I ask as she pulls me in for a hug. I can tell it's still a little red from getting hit

"It's fine. It hurts a little but it stopped bleeding" she says
