Chapter 81

Peyton POV:

I'm currently at the UConn vs. Baylor Elite Eight game. It's been a stressful game to say the least. There have been times where it seems UConn has given up but then they get their spark back. Which seems to be happening right now because they were down 55-45 but they've had a 19-0 run, so they are currently winning 55-64.

Baylor has been playing pretty dirty and they keep pushing Paige around which I don't like. I can tell Paige is getting annoyed by it too.

With 0.8 seconds left in the game Uconn is winning 67-68 but Baylor is inbounding the ball. As they inbound it they throw it to half court since they don't have much time, but Paige catches it instead of the Baylor player and UConn wins making it their 13th straight trip to the final four.

Paige's family and I all stand up cheering for them as they shake hands and make their way back into the locker room.

"That game was so stressful" I say

"Yea, that wasn't good for my heart at all" Paiges mom jokes

"Yea I'll definitely need to call a heart doctor after this tournament" Paiges dad adds laughing

Paige's family and I are waiting in the hallway by the locker room waiting for Paige to walk out.

After a couple minutes Nika comes out and sees me so she walks over.

"Peytonnnn!" Nika says excitedly as I pull her in for a hug

"You played great today. Loved the energy" I tell her as we pull away from the hug

"Aw thanks. Paige should be coming out any second she was just finishing changing" Nika says as the rest of the team walks out of the lockeroom with Paige at the very end "Speak of the devil" Nika adds

Paige scans the crowd of families looking for us and when her eyes make contact with mine she instantly has a smile on her face as she walks over.

"Hey slowpoke" I say pulling her in for a quick kiss

"I'm not a slowpoke" Paige says once we pull away

"Yes you are" Geno says as he walks by making all of us laugh

"It's okay Paige, not all of us can be amazing like me" Nika says teasing her

"Yea whatever. At least my brother likes me. Isn't that right Drew?" Paige asks picking him up and holding him against her hip

"Yea" he says chuckling burying his head into her neck laughing

Paige then goes over to her parents and gives them a quick hug

"Peyton you wanna come to Paige and I's hotel room when we get back to the hotel?" Nika asks

"Am I allowed to?" I ask

"Yea I don't see why not" Nika asks

"Nika why are we watching SpongeBob right now?" I ask turning to her as I'm laying on Paige's bed with Paige cuddled into me.

"Because it's funny. Stop being a Debby downer" Nika answers which makes me laugh

"Does anyone else on the team like SpongeBob?" I ask

"Yea Evina" Paige says resting her head on my chest

"Oh my god! You just gave me the best idea!" Nika screams picking up her phone "hello? Yea it's Nika. You wanna watch SpongeBob with me? In my room. Ok see you soon" Nika says and hangs up

Shortly after Evina comes into their room and sits on Nika's bed with her watching SpongeBob.

I turn to face Paige and see that her eyes are closed

"You tired?" I ask quietly softly running my fingers through her hair

"Mhm" she replies not even opening her eyes so I pull the sheets over us more so she's comfortable

"You can go to bed it's okay" I tell her quietly because I know she wanted to stay up with me since it's been hard to see each other during the tournament

"I love you" she says quietly

"I love you too, now rest" I say kissing the top of her head
