Chapter 5

September 15, Monday

Maeva's POV

It has been two weeks since school started and everything was going great. My mom gets to come home early sometimes since now she has a new co-worker helping her (new co-worker being Nate's mom). She is dating this guy, whom I recently met. His name is Xavier. He is treating my mom well and is really nice. I'm just glad my mom can finally be happy.

School is going great as well. I'm getting straight A's, as usual. My friendship with Sienna and Kathrin is growing stronger every day. Oskar is such a gentleman. He always pulls out the chair for me, and pays whenever we go out to eat. He would open and close the doors for me, even though I am fully capable of doing it myself.

And a bonus to add on to my already amazing start of the school year is that Nate isn't being mean and picking on me as he usually would. We could actually have a real conversation without arguing with each other. Nate also got a girlfriend. Jessica George.

She and I actually used to be friends, and was a part of our little friend group (which contained of Sienna, Kathrin, Jessica, and me). One day, she just decided that she didn't want to be friends with us anymore and just went on to be friends with people like Vivian and Heather. Y'know, the rich and popular kids.

What does Nate even see in Jessica? She might be rich, pretty, and popular, and all that, but I'm way nicer than her. Plus, I'm quite popular too! People talk to me. She just shuts people up before they actually start talking. I can actually hold a conversation-- and not shit on everyone behind their back! You know what, it doesn't matter. I have an amazing boyfriend-- or, uhm, guy I'm dating; we didn't discuss labels yet. Either way, why would I be jealous of her dating the person I have hated most of my life? So I'm not.

It was currently 4:57. Nate has basketball on Mondays. It's one of the co-curricular stuff. He should've been done by thirty, and possibly taken a shower; which is why I was looking at myself in the mirror, giving myself a pep talk in my head to survive another long hour I have to stay with Nate before actually going over.

Oskar was busy that day, so it was one hour of me, alone, with Nate, doing the science fair project we've planned. I know I said that he wasn't mean to me anymore, but I never said that he wasn't annoying.

We decided to work at his house that day because my mom invited some friends over. I looked over my outfit one more time. I wore a black cropped tank top with big chain looking things as straps. I wore this weird maroon colored jacket thing and some dark blue baggy jeans as well.
