They'd been used. One too many times without their knowledge. And they just let him.

They all knew that the Director was evil beyond compare. Pang and Aria sympathized with him when they heard the story of how the Gifted Program came to be. They let their guard down and trusted the old man.

But that was a mistake.

A horrible mistake.

Aria's hold tightened and her breaths began being too rapid than her liking. Wave did not fail to notice. He kept his grip on her tighter and massaged her hand with his thumb.

"Over the past fifteen years, the program has been very successful. I and the Ministry are confident that we can improve the education system drastically. Therefore, it is time to apply the program to students nationwide."

"He used us to do the same thing we hoped to stop," Aria choked out. Her eyes welled up in tears. She had been used, again, by the same person she did everything not to get influenced by. But still, he won, even without using his potential.

"Moving forward, all students who finish Matthayom 3 in the school year 2020 will take the Placement Exam and get selected to join the Gifted School. I, as the Director of Ritdha High School, will organize the Exam and be in charge of this project myself."

Aria shook her head, and the tears she had been holding up freed themselves. "No, no," she tried to deny. She looked at Wave and asked him to tell her that none of that was happening.

But Wave couldn't say that. That was not the truth that he promised to always tell her. Instead, he brought her in an embrace and let her cry all she wanted.

She did pour out tears, but Aria did not sob out loud. She just kept shaking her head and denying what was happening, repeatedly saying no.

"What is this, Pang?" Ohm asked.

However, Pang did not say a word but ran towards the nearest elevator, making them whip their heads at him. They knew where he was going.

"Pang," Aria called, breaking free from the hug, as they watched him speed up. But he didn't listen.

"Pang!" Wave called too, but just like the first time, he did not listen. "Pang!"

The couple ran after him. They knew Pang would take drastic action which he hadn't thought through carefully. And they were aware that it might put him in danger, that none of them would want.

"Pawaret, where are you going?"

The trio stopped running when Ms Darin hindered the way from the elevator, Aria wiping her tear-stained face.

"Where is the Director?" Pang answered the question with another question.

"He just finished the press conference, and he's now in a meeting with the Ministry's high-level officials. He ordered me to take you to his office and wait for him."

"But I must see the Director immediately," Pang insisted to the unwavering lady. And to his frustration, he used his potential on her.

"What did I just say, Pawaret?" But it didn't work, much to his confusion. "He ordered me to take you to his office." Then she looked at Wave. "You, take your friends back to the school."

Wave looked down at Aria, who looked back at him.

"What is going on?" asked Pang.

"Your teacher, Mr Pom, got hold of the virus. And the Director is using the virus to force the Ministry's hand. He has to thank you three, for making his ambition come true."
