I smile relieved upon seeing the familiar long-haired beauty.

Yesss.

Still my angel.

Thanks God.

You are the best.

She is sitting on the bench under our tree.

I walk up slowly.

"Brooklyn?"
I ask quietly.

Her eyes snap open.

I frown.
Why didn't she come get me?

Does she not want me around? I can go away.

I'm great at disappearing.

"Oh. Hi."
She says, looking away.

I sit down beside her.

"Hey, what's wrong?"
I ask softly, scooting a little closer.

She shakes her head, clearly upset.

I bite my lip.

Okay, she doesn't want to talk.

I can work with that.

"I brought cookies."
I say, shaking the tin in front of her face.

"Ooh."

I smile as she takes the box, opening it up.

"Where did you get these?"
She asks, taking a bite of a cookie.

I tilt my head, watching her.

"The librarian, Mrs. Barnes made them for us."
I answer, clearly aware of the fact that she's trying to appear happy.

I know that she isn't.

"Angel?"

She blushes, looking away from me.

"Are you mad at me?"

She frowns, looking straight ahead at the amusement park across the street.

"No. Why would I be? You don't even do anything."

I can't help but to roll my eyes.

Ouch.

What a way to ruin a man's pride.

"Well then."
I say quietly, watching as she eats another cookie.

"I'm fine, Teddy."
She says when she sees the look on my face.

I continue to frown.

"You aren't going to tell me what's wrong? I don't want to appear nosey but maybe I can help."
I say kindly.

She bites her lip, pushing the box back to me.

"Remind me to thank the librarian later. And it doesn't matter."
She grumbles.

I find myself pouting.

Ugh!

What the hell is happening to me?

"Please?"

She hesitates.

"I have a feeling that you will get mad."
She whispers, leaning her head on my shoulder.

I wrap my arm around her slowly.

"Really?"

She nods, getting comfortable.

I close my eyes for a second, just enjoying holding her.

I never thought that I would ever be doing something like this again.
