Jordan
"Baby? Come along now, I have your bath ready."
I urge softly, my hand on the small of her back as we make our way to the bathroom. She hasn't said a word since dinner.
Didn't even go downstairs to say goodbye to that asshole.
Goodbye.
Because there's no way she's seeing him again.
I don't think she wants to, anyway.
She said she would give me a massage before dinner but I brushed her off when she tried to just now.
I want to take care of her.
I know she's at least a little upset that I admitted that we're going to tie the knot in a fit of rage.
That's not the way we were going to tell her parents.
But a little part of me is satisfied that they now know.
She drops her towel and steps into the tub.
"Baby girl, I'm sorry. I really am. I tried as hard as I could."
I sigh, watching her settle down. She just watches as I toss a purple bath bomb
in."I know, I'm not mad, honey. Just a little disappointed."
She sighs, smiling sadly.I get down on my knees beside the tub and gently run my fingers through her hair.
She loves it when I do that.
"I um. I know that you wanted to wait to tell your parents about us getting married because you have doubts about it actually happening,"
I hesitate.She says nothing.
It hurts a little.
I clear my throat.
"I just want you to know that if we end up just being friends, I won't act like him. I wont bash you for making bad decisions and I wont make you feel uncomfortable. I'll still act the same."
I say softly, grabbing the conditioner."Don't say that, Teddy. I want to be with you. I want you to be a friend but I still want you to be my husband too. I have no doubts."
She grumbles.I stare.
"You promise?"
She nods.
I hesitate still.
"You know you can tell me anything, right?"
She nods.
"Then tell me if I'm too...in your life. I can step away, I swear it won't be that big of a deal."
The look she gives me makes me feel a little nervous.
"Come get in with me."
She sits up, pushing my hands away."Baby-"
"Jordan. Get in this damn tub."
She says sternly.I stand up reluctantly.
"Please would be a nice word to say."
I grumble.
