Brooklyn

"Oh my God. Jordan..."
I gasp as the car stops in the middle of the woods.

I know exactly where we are.

The Swansonhood hills, as people call it.

A forest behind an elderly couple's house.

Movies under the stars is an event that they hold once a month where they put up a projector and play all the best movies.

During school, only the best couples came to these things, I've heard that they were legit romantic.

He brought me here?

"You like it? This is really okay?"
He asks, staring at me nervously.

"I love it! Oh, I've only heard about these things! This is the best, Teddy! Gabby told me once that when Jacob took her to one of these, they played the best movies."
I blab, hurrying to unbuckle my seatbelt.

He grins relievedly, jumping out and walking around to open the door for me.

"Oh man, you're going to make me cry."

I frown as he open my door, grabbing my hands.

"What? What did I do? My bad."
I say awkwardly, jumping out.

He grabs me, pulling me into his arms.

"You called me Teddy."
He whispers, holding me close.

I frown.

I didn't notice.

"Oh. I didn't-"

"Please. Don't regret it, baby. Don't say that you didn't mean it."
He cuts me off, his lips brushing up against my ear.

I shiver, blushing.

"Okay, I guess."

He pulls away with a small smile, his eyes tender.

I used to love that look.

It almost makes me cry.

Because he looks so......the same.

Nostalgia clouds my brain.

"Hey, don't cry, baby girl. This is supposed to be a fun night."
He says, wiping away a few tears that I didn't even know slipped out.

I cover his hands with mine, just staring.

"I hate you so much."

He laughs, pulling me to him again.

"I know baby. I know."

"How did you manage to do this?"
I ask softly, watching as he spreads out one of his blankets on the grass.

"Oh, it was easy. I paid at the door yesterday. Mr. Stevens is my lawyer."
He tells me, grabbing the grocery bags from me.

"That's nice."
I say, smiling slowly.

He sets the bags down, reaching out for me next.

"You're smiling."
He observes, helping me sit down.

I stop, of course.

He laughs quietly, scooting closer to me.

"There are a lot of people here."
I say, looking around.

There are people all around us, chatting amongst themselves until the movie starts.

"We're a bit early."
He says, wrapping an extra blanket around us.
