Spooky-Finally

We were playing boardgames after dinner and I was winning-first time in a long time for that. After a while I got tired and went to bed. If Stassie didn't show up or even try and call me within the last two days she was definitely in Russia at a blackout site, curtesy of her father.

Mama Patty had tried to defuse my tension with distractions but they weren't working. I told myself that I was giving up on thinking she would come back but we were at our last hope for a happy life together and the both of us fucked it up badly.

We had plans, she was helping me rebuild my damaged life and I was helping her maintain her chill and keep her happy as long as I could.

My brain wouldn't stop thinking and then overthinking. Staying in her bedroom didn't help me. Everything smelled like her. I wanted the girl who was carefree back but after what she's been through she won't want me. Stassie will probably go into a downward spiral of depression.

My eyes started closing and sleep soon took over me when the front door opened and everyone started getting loud and cheering. Curiosity of who was downstairs came over me and I needed to check it out. I climbed out of bed and opened Stassie's door and there she was.

Finally.

Standing in front of me with a frown, that quickly changed into confusion.

"Oh my God. What are you doing here?"

It was the first time I heard her voice in five weeks and it was like hearing an angel from heaven. "Hey princesa." I pulled her into a hug but she pulled away a little bit.

"Pasa algo?" (What's up)

"Broken ribs. I'll live. What's up with you?"

"Gunshot wound and a punctured liver. I'll live."

"Te extrane." (I missed you) Stassie whispers.

"Same princesa. Like crazy." Stassie pulled my into a hug with her arms loosely wrapped around my waist. She smelled like her, as creepy as it was I missed the way she smelled. It cut through the cigarette smell that usually fills the air around me.

"What took you so long to get here? I thought you went to Russia."

"Had to go pick up your little brother per request of my little brothers. Cesar said with the both of us back together he felt better being here than with my Uncle. Who of course is doing shady business. I wouldn't go back to Russia unless I was being dragged there against my will. Oh crap. I have to go tell my mom about that."

Stassie tried to get out of the hold but I wasn't letting go just yet. "That can wait. Let me hold you." She nodded and fell into my chest.

We just stood in her childhood house holding each other. For once the both of us were together, not fighting, arguing, dealing with rival mobs or gangs. The two of us were just being us. This is what I thought was happiness. Our lives were too complicated to make our relationship with each other complicated too.

My heart and brain relaxed for the first time in a week. I didn't care about the outside world because my world just returned to me intact. And I felt better with her here. It was like my body relaxed at the sight of her standing in front of me.

So I am in Florida right now and won't be able to post for a couple days. I'm at a family wedding! But I'll be back soon guys!
