Tony was having one of those days, where everything goes wrong.
He spilled his coffee on himself, he was late for work, he accidentally dropped a wrench on his foot, and his boss got angry at him.
By the time his shift ended, his chest was tight and he felt like crying. He unlocked the door to his and Steve's apartment with shaking hands. Immediately he is enveloped by the warm scent of something cooking.
"Steve?" Tony asks, trying to keep his voice steady.
"I'm in here." Steve calls. "I'm making garlic bread and I ordered pizza. I thought we could have a movie night- are you okay?" Steve turns around and Tony crosses the kitchen and throws his arms around Steve, burying his face in Steve's shoulder.
"Today wasn't a good day." Tony murmurs. "Thank you."
"For what?" Steve asks.
"For being here. For staying."
"Of course. Always."
