"Whoa baby, slow down, it's just me", he said, when he started to hear her heart beating loudly.
"When, when did you come home?" She asked.
"I just got back, and was coming to see you."
"The maids said you didn't come out for dinner", Zayne said.
Paige suddenly felt a chill run down her spine.
It wasn't Zayne in the balcony, or maybe, she was dreaming?
"Are you okay?"
"You're sweating when it's cold", Zayne asked, patting her forehead with his shirt.
"I don't feel so good, I want to go to bed now", she said.
"Okay", he said, and opened the door.
He led her to the bed, and covered her with the sheets.

"Please, could you grab the ribbon on the vanity and help me tie my hair?"
"It's getting in the way of my sleep", she said to Zayne.
"Sure", he replied, and brought it to her.
"Let me do it", he said, and she turned her back for him to help her tie it.
"Did you go into the woods today?" Zayne asked, when he noticed that there were soil particles in her hair.
"No, I didn't."
"Why?" Paige asked.
"You have some soil in your hair", Zayne said, making Paige freeze.
She washed her hair today and didn't go out, so that could only mean one thing.

She wasn't dreaming, and someone really did come to her on the balcony.

"All done", he said with a smile.
"Thank you", she replied.
"I'm going to my office, there's still some files left for me to sign."
"I have to give my authorisation for the packs who are coming for the eclipse", he said, and wanted to get out of the bed, but Paige held his hand in fear.
"Don't go", she said in a scared tone.
"You're acting weird baby, are you sure you're okay?" He asked, once again.
"Yes."
"I just don't want you to leave."
She said, trying to not show that she was scared, and he smiled.
"Okay, the files can wait until tomorrow", Zayne said, and she smiled.
She laid down, and he wrapped his arms around her, burying his face into her back.

She turned to him  and pecked his lips.
"Goodnight Zayne", she said.
"Goodnight Paige."
"I love you", he replied, making her cheeks turn red.
"Really?" She asked, and he nodded.
"I love you so much", he said, and her heart melted.
"I love you too", she said, and he kissed her forehead.
They smiled at each other, before she started to feel sleepy, and finally fell asleep.
...

"Sandra!"
"Why did you call me to come here?"
"If your Alpha catches me, what am I going to tell Julian?" Roland said with a scared tone.
"You're still afraid of Julian, even after twenty-six years?" Sandra said to the worried Beta.
"Whatever, I have to leave soon, or he'll notice I'm gone."
"What do you want?" Roland asked.
"Do the witches still reside in the west?" Sandra asked.
"Yes, they do."
"You want to talk to them?" Roland asked, and she nodded.

"Hmm, why didn't you just ask Julian yourself?"
"He'd be delighted to know that his former mate is still hale and hearty", Roland said.
"Please, he doesn't deserve to even be called my ex mate."
"I need to contact the witches for a serious matter, and I don't want Julian to know about it", she warned.
"Well, I can't do anything without his approval."
"The witches are protected by our pack, so we cannot let anyone meet them without informing him", Roland said.
"Okay."
"Fine."
"But, I'm not gonna step foot into your pack."
"I don't want his mate to gorge my eyes out", Sandra said.

"We'll be attending the lunar eclipse party that Alpha Zayne is holding."
"So, ask him there", Roland said.
"What?"
"But the Alpha despises your pack!"
"He would never allow it!" Sandra said.
"Yes, which is why we forced the Red Lake pack to back down the invitation."
"Alpha Zayne must have not read the document well, if he had seen our pack name on the document, he would have torn the paper immediately."
"What a surprise that would be, when he sees our pack members on his territory", Roland said in a crazy tone.

"You're crazy, just like him!"
"I have to go now."
"And, Alpha Julian better not act like he knows me when he sees me at the party."
"Tell him I said that."
"Goodbye now", Sandra said, and turned to her heels.
"Wait, Sandra."
"I've always been curious", Roland said, causing her to turn back and fold her arms.
"Did, did you have the baby?"
"Julian hates himself for leaving you when you were pregnant."
"And, Luna Fallon is barren."
"He-", Roland said, but Sandra cut him short.

"I lost the baby."
"He left me, during the time that I needed him the most."
"Everyone knows how painful it is for a werewolf to give birth."
"And that is why they are expected to have their mates with them!"
"But no."
"Julian didn't love me enough to stay."
"And, he couldn't even wait until his child was born."
"So, I gave birth to a dead baby, now, don't mention it again."
"And, even if I did have the baby, I would never give them to Julian!"
"He doesn't deserve to be a father, just as he doesn't deserve to be a mate!"
"If he ever tries to mention my dead child, tell him I said that!" Sandra said, and huffed before she left.

"Oh, Sandra dear."
"If only you knew that Julian is aware that you had the baby."
"And, she's the current Luna of the River Moon pack."
"He's coming for her."
"And he will definitely take her away", Roland thought to himself, before he left the dark forest.
