Growing Accustomed to Living in the Awakened Corpses Faction

As the other 29 disciples of the Awakened Corpses Faction show themselves every single person within this division of the sect gathered up at the center of the faction's domains.

All of them introduced themselves to Ye Gui Feng who tried his hardest to remember their faces and names.

"Hey how badly did you react to Elder Shu's demonstration?"

"Badly enough..."

Just remembering it caused Ye Gui Feng to smile bitterly. As for the resulting nightmares that occurred after that demonstration... There was no need to even ask.

It didn't take long at all for everyone in the Awakened Corpses Faction to be seated around discussing Ye Gui Feng's current experience here. This is a tradition that's shared by those in this faction.

Due to their small size it was easy for everyone to know each other's faces and names given enough time. This made it so that everyone is familiar towards the others.

Such a small community makes Ye Gui Feng recalls his days in the 21st century when he had gone to a normal high school.

Since they had all been through Elder Shu's demonstration there's already a common topic to talk about making the introduction process very painless even for those who are shy and timid.

Whether this was something that Elder Shu had done on purpose or not is anyone's guess but it truly did help to build a solid relationship between the juniors and seniors.

"*Sigh* it's a shame that we don't have girls here..."

"All the other factions have them but just us..."

"Can't be helped this is an unpopular craft."

"I saw someone using a Jiangshi that I made myself."

"Oh I know that feeling. It feels awesome when you see it win in a fight doesn't it?"

If one can make a Jiangshi that's capable of combat they can sell it through the faction's services. Other faction's disciples will pay a great deal of spirit stones for them.

But there was more than combat to a Jiangshi. There are even people that would use them as servants for cleaning or assistants when concocting pills.

In fact there's quite a lot of requests for a servant type Jiangshi that it's almost shocking. Their numbers greatly surpassed the order for combat types.

"Most of the people have to wait a year or two for their orders to come through."

This wasn't too surprising considering the size of this faction. There are never enough hands to quickly finish the endless number of orders from the other sect disciples.

It became quite headache for both the makers and the customers that some would be willing to pay extra to have their orders fulfilled early.

For the next few months Ye Gui Feng would often visit the Immortal Caves of his seniors to watch them work outside of his own tasks of cultivating.

In the outside world a whole year had gone by in a blink of an eye.

In the midst of time's passing Ye Gui Feng found himself completely accustomed to living in the Awakened Corpses Faction.

"*Sigh* a long time has passed. I've gotten a bit more used to corpses..."

Ye Gui Feng didn't know if he was truly ready to hold a knife to cut open a corpse yet.

But Ye Gui Feng wouldn't really know until he tries once more. In his storage bag is the corpse that Elder Shu had given him a while back.

The corpse has lost most of its magic energy from when it was alive but Ye Gui Feng didn't need it to be perfect. He simply wanted to get used to cutting the corpse and removing its organs.

"Paying respects to the fallen."

Clasping his hands and giving the corpse in front of him a bow Ye Gui Feng takes the knife that's left on the side table.

"..."

Looking down at the knife in his hand Ye Gui Feng breaths in deep a few times to calm down his mind.

"Fellow disciple, I do not know who you are, but if your soul in heaven is watching then please permit me, Ye Gui Feng this opportunity."

Ye Gui Feng offers a prayer to the deceased soul before him before gripping the knife tightly in his right hand and presses its sharpen edge onto the stomach of the corpse.

As the knife cuts into the old wound that he made a year back Ye Gui Feng continues to lengthen the cut.

Within 30 minutes Ye Gui Feng managed to finish the cut and remove the slab of flesh to reveal the inner organs.

Slowly Ye Gui Feng reaches his hands in to grab the organs and begin to clean out the corpse while being careful to not damage anything else.

Just like that in deathly silence three hours passed by as the corpse begins to stiffen up making it slightly more difficult to work with.

"Phew..."

With his face covered up in sweat Ye Gui Feng finally finished cleaning out the corpse after a total of 13 hours. His arms and legs are quite sore from moving and standing.

There was no point to do the filling process considering how this is just meant to be for practice.

"Although I can't make a Jiangshi out of this body I shouldn't just dispose of it so casually. Hmm..."

Ye Gui Feng didn't really know what to do with a corpse like this along with the organs that are just dumped to the side.

"Ah... That's right there was that thing."

Recalling something Ye Gui Feng washes and cleans his hands before pulling out the storage bag that Xie Mo Xin had gifted to him. Within it there are a few plant seeds.

There were other items but Ye Gui Feng still couldn't figure out what some of them are used for. But there were definitely a large number of materials for crafting. Even a pill cauldron had been in there...

"Eh? I feel like my master may have been a jack of all trades with so much crafting material in here..."

Somewhere far, far away old devil Xie Mo Xin sneezes.

"Son of a bitch who dares to badmouth this peerless expert!?"

Xie Mo Xin projects his senses outwards but detected no one nearby before sighing.

"I wonder how Xiao Feng is doing. Is he using all the valuable items that I've given him well?"

Xie Mo Xin shakes his head. There was not a lot of time for him to interact with Ye Gui Feng after accepting him as a disciple outside of talking for a day.

...

Back in the Burial Grounds Sect Ye Gui Feng inspects the plant seeds.

"These can't be ordinary seeds if they were in master's possession. I should plant them."

With a nod Ye Gui Feng decides to bury the corpse away by digging a hole within his cave. Decaying corpses are good nourishment for plants despite how twisted the idea may sound.

After placing the corpse into the hole that he dug Ye Gui Feng decided not to plant the seeds just yet. Instead he decides to continue his practice.

Until he can finally make a standard Jiangshi Ye Gui Feng won't plant these seeds since he plans on burying all the corpses that he will need to go through beneath the hole he dug out.

The following day Ye Gui Feng heads to Elder Shu to request for another corpse. Outside of eating and sleeping with a bit of time to practice his cultivation Ye Gui Feng ceaselessly practices by operating on corpses to hone his crafting skills.

Although Ye Gui Feng's cultivation in the meantime is still slow he can feel that he is quite close to approaching the third level of Qi Condensation.

"At least I didn't make a legendary breakthrough into the 1.5th level of Qi Condensation or something similar to it..."
