Returning Back to the Burial Grounds Sect

[Awake are you?]

The cold voice of the lich sitting upon its throne speaks to Ye Gui Feng who finds himself resting his head on Xiao Ju Hong's lap.

The expressionless face of the Jiangshi looks down upon Ye Gui Feng with an unblinking stare.

"D-Did I succeed?"

Ye Gui Feng stands back up and touches the back of his waist. He feels like there was something weird sticking out of there.

A rough and flexible texture is felt by Ye Gui Feng's hands. It was slightly oily.

Turning his head to look back Ye Gui Feng sees that there are two holes in his robes. Sticking out of there are two black objects covered in feathers.

"What are these chicken wings?"

Ye Gui Feng tries to pull them off but to his shock he couldn't pull them off of his body.

"I-I... My heavens I've grown chicken wings!?"

Ye Gui Feng screams in horror while running about anxiously to which the lich asks for him to calm down.

[It would seem like you cultivate a physique.]

Hearing this Ye Gui Feng is reminded of his dead master Xie Mo Xin bringing up something about a Heavenly Demon physique.

Although Ye Gui Feng had read the manuals of that physique it wasn't too helpful as it only contained a bit of information. The rest of it looks like gibberish writing in his eyes.

[This is merely your physique awakening. In the past there are many demonic cultivators who train in such methods that made them half human and half demon. The closer to completion of the physique the more drastic the changes to your body.]

Seeing as how this boy has managed to acquire such a method of training then his background can't be any less than someone of the Yao family. Even if it was less it couldn't be that far off.

The lich readily explains all that he knew about this physique to Ye Gui Feng.

"So I'm going to become a chicken upon completion?"

With a worried look on his face Ye Gui Feng asks to which the lich seems to smile before shaking his head.

[No. Your breakthrough caused a giant three eyed crow to appear. So you would probably become that instead.]

"A crow?"

The lich goes through the details of what had happened while Ye Gui Feng was in a trance like state in the midst of his breakthrough.

Upon finishing the lich waves a hand telling Ye Gui Feng to be gone.

[Enough of this talk. Get out of my home. This realm has already been plundered by outsiders. There is no longer anything here. Soon I shall seal it all.]

"Will you be moving onto the next life?"

[Heh. If it exists for an undead like me. Go now I shall temporally open the exit for you.]

As someone who had died and been reincarnated into this world Ye Gui Feng knew that a next life exists.

But the lich doesn't. One can consider a lich an immortal but they are not true immortals.

Similar to humans liches have a lifespan. Their lifespan is reliant on the size of their soul that is constantly shrinking as time passes.

The lich raises a hand causing a rift to appear behind Ye Gui Feng. This will take him outside of the Nine Dragons' Vault entrance.

Standing before the lich Ye Gui Feng clasps his hands and gives the undead a respectful bow before taking Xiao Ju Hong with him to leave.

"*Sigh*"

Upon making it out of the Nine Dragons' Vault Ye Gui Feng sighs heavily.

"I should head back to the sect..."

With Xiao Ju Hong by his side Ye Gui Feng thought about the future.

The Yao family, if they ever find out that he had made a clansman of their family into his Jiangshi then they will surely have his head.

This was Ye Gui Feng's imminent concern and whenever he looks upon Xiao Ju Hong he can't help but to think about that.

"*Sigh* is there some kind of magic skill that allows someone to resurrect the dead? Hmm..."

Ye Gui Feng thought back to some spell chants from the games that he played.

"Oh well I may as well try it."

Turning to face Xiao Ju Hong Ye Gui Feng clears his throat and begins to chant. He felt quite embarrassed to do so as memories of his second year of middle school days come back to haunt him.

"Strands of rejuvenation, give name to the glimmer that burns eternal, never to be doused, and instill it with hope. Resurrection!"

To make a show of effort Ye Gui Feng raises his hands towards the skies.

"..."

Following a long moment of awkward silence with Xiao Ju Hong looking at him expressionlessly Ye Gui Feng sighs and puts down his hands.

"Doesn't work huh? What was I hoping for? Maybe in the sect there could be some clues to resurrection or... At least some way to communicate with the dead..."

Taking Xiao Ju Hong's hand Ye Gui Feng continues to move in the directions of the Burial Grounds Sect.

"I wonder if I caused trouble for Elder Shu again?"

Despite feeling anger about Elder Shu's shamelessness Ye Gui Feng never the less felt bad troubling the old man.

"And that Long Huangrong..."

The main heroine is a character in stories that can't be killed no matter what. They must be saved no matter the consequences, is the logic that Ye Gui Feng goes with.

"Still since that Sheng Tiandao wasn't the main character then who is the main character? Is this world's story told from the side of the demonic sects? In that case wouldn't it mean that I was wrong to think that Feng Jian Yun is the final boss? Won't he be the main character then?"

In the end Ye Gui Feng thinks to himself that he is just an unimportant character that's meant to fade into the background at some point in time.

"..."

From a distance a robed figure stands on top of a tall tree. Their face is completely covered by a hoodie making it impossible to see their face.

This figure is none other than Xie Mo Xin who is intently looking towards Ye Gui Feng. Specifically he is looking at the tiny wings that have grown out of the back of the boy's waist.

"*Sigh* it's too early to tell... But if he cultivates a bit further then he should be able to make it more obvious."

Xie Mo Xin's eyes turn to the Jiangshi that Ye Gui Feng is leading by the hand.

"So that chrysanthemum has bloomed? Good this should serve to protect him a bit better."

Xie Mo Xin turns away from Ye Gui Feng and vanishes. The time for them to meet once more is still too early.

It will take a while for Ye Gui Feng to return back to the Burial Grounds Sect, as such Xie Mo Xin will make a stop there first before returning back to the Heavenly Demon Sect.
