Outside the leaderboards update and Ye Gui Feng's name moves up the rankings.

Ye Gui Feng, ???, rank 20,321, trial three.

Emerging at the beginning of the third trial Ye Gui Feng stands at the head of the crocodile Jiangshi.

"What is up with the Yao family and their trials. Must it always be something this grand?"

Pillars of ice stand tall as they pierce into the misty heavens above. The temperature here is definitely well within the negatives and it only gets colder the further along one goes.

A blizzard level snow storm is set to be on at all times. Within this environment one would instantly freeze to death if they didn't make it through fast enough.

Cold Qi is constantly floating about within this environment and these cold Qi take on the form of falling snow making it so that this snow storm is anything but ordinary. One cannot simply rely on their cultivation base to protect them here.

The most effective means of countering against this blizzard would be if one cultivates in the arts of fire or ice. Of the two means of counter ice is preferred.

"This boy has a strange type of ice magic so his immunity to cold Qi should be rather high."

"He has an edge above others in this place so I'm expecting him to be able to get pass here."

"If he can last long enough to find the gate that is."

"Originally one is meant to practice their breathing techniques here. They can release the accumulated cold Qi in their bodies through that."

"It's not exactly common knowledge though..."

The requirements of needing a special sort of method to break pass a trial starts in the third trial grounds. The first two are considered warm-ups to test a challenger's battle prowess.

Ye Gui Feng stores away the crocodile Jiangshi. He didn't know where the gate to the next trial is as the snow storm obscures his vision.

"Hmm."

Instead of moving Ye Gui Feng instead chooses to sit down. There are actually a good number of dead souls here.

The coldness here numbs one's senses making it so that one wouldn't feel a hint of fatigue or pain despite approaching their limits. This makes many going pass their limits for a prolonged period of time and causes their eventual deaths.

Closing his eyes Ye Gui Feng begins to draw the souls of the dead towards him to aid him in his cultivation.

There is an elemental force of ice here that is also beneficial towards cultivating the Ice Demon Grand Magic.

Time passes as Ye Gui Feng cultivates under the eyes of Yao Nie Tian and Yao Lei Yun. Within two hours Ye Gui Feng absorbed all the ghosts into his body and this helps to increase his focus on cultivating the Ice Demon Grand Magic.

Ye Gui Feng's current cultivation speed in the Ice Demon Grand Magic is a lot better than what he is generally used to.

Within this environment where cold Qi is abundant Ye Gui Feng feels right at home as these elements of ice enters into his body through his pores.

After an hour's passing Ye Gui Feng's body is completely covered in frost. He looks like he had already died from the cold but if one pays close attention to him the sound of light breaths can be heard.

After five whole days Ye Gui Feng's body has become trapped in a sturdy shell of ice. Despite that he is still alive within the ice much to the shock of the two that are watching him.

"Ordinary magic of this type can't possibly help him for this long."

"This must be a type of legacy magic."

Two weeks had gone by and a miniature blizzard had seemingly formed with Ye Gui Feng at the center.

Within these two weeks there are a good number of returning challengers that have come through the gates behind Ye Gui Feng.

All of them saw this strange phenomenon but they didn't pay any close attention to it as they had to worry about themselves first.

Within the body of Ye Gui Feng a tiny pellet begins to form from the gathered ice elements. This is an inner core that is very much similar to a beast core.

The legacy given to Ye Gui Feng by Ling Zang Mu shows that this is the second part towards cultivating the Ice Demon Grand Magic.

(Become a glacier with a heart of ice and reincarnate to become the ice demon itself. Bīng Mó zhī Xīn! (冰魔之心! Translation: Heart of the Ice Demon!))

Upon Ye Gui Feng reopening his eyes the ice shell that covers his body breaks apart as a force of cold Qi is explosively released from his body.

Layers of ice forms over the cold Qi in the form of snow before becoming a part of the natural environment.

"Ahhhh!"

The sudden scream caused Ye Gui Feng to turn his head around only to find a fellow challenger frozen in ice.

"Ah..."

They had been unlucky to come into the third trial when Ye Gui Feng had just opened his eyes.

Ye Gui Feng blinks his eyes like a lost child. This sight made the two elders watching him smile bitterly.

"That... I'm sorry..."

Ye Gui Feng decides to clasp his hands together and apologize with a bow. They seem to still be alive as a bit of life force can be felt from it so Ye Gui Feng pushes them out of the third trial before turning his head around.

"I need to find the gate."

With a carefree attitude Ye Gui Feng explores the land of endless blizzards. The further along he went the colder it got but by rotating the Heart of the Ice Demon within his body the cold Qi around him only serves to benefit his body more than it harms.

There was a sense of comfort walking through this blizzard that Ye Gui Feng didn't mind spending more time in it.

Along the way Ye Gui Feng sees many bodies frozen in ice. These challengers had been unfortunate in their searches and had frozen to death along the way.

"If I didn't have the Ice Demon Grand Magic I wouldn't last long here. But the price of acquiring it is still..."

It is still traumatizing to Ye Gui Feng whenever he recalls that scene. He didn't want to remember it but every time he uses the Ice Demon Grand Magic he would...

"Ling Zang Mu that bitch why did she have to use such a method to transfer her legacy? Is it just because she died unmarried? She's most definitely one of those woman that was popular at her prime but took too long to decide on a partner until she turned 30 in a blink of an eye. Being pass the marriageable age is quite scary..."

Deep within his heart Ye Gui Feng truly does hope that he himself doesn't end up as someone like that.

But then again with how violent the girls are in this world Ye Gui Feng can't help but start to thinking otherwise.

Although it might not look like it but Ye Gui Feng does also has his pride. If he becomes a man that is afraid of his wife then that pride would most likely shatter.

"Surely there must be a girl out there that I can dedicate myself to...? I may not be a looker but I should still be considered decent in terms of appearance."

While thinking about his future Ye Gui Feng eventually finds the gate leading to the fourth level.
