Ariana's POV.

I was standing in front of the secret passage once again. I don't know why but I wanted to know who is the person they're torturing.

I pushed the button and entered inside. After passing from the dark passage I reached to the wooden door.

I opened it and saw no one was there. Going towards the lab I saw the door opening and I panicked. I immediately hid in the bedroom which was in front of me. Scared of getting caught I hide behind the door. I heard a couple of footsteps approaching inside.

My eyes recognized a familiar figure it was Uncle Robert along with a doctor. Today I didn't see Dad Samuel with them.

The person whose appearance says he's a doctor sat in front of him. He looked stressed as he clutched his head and sighed.

"Samuel is going too hard on him." Uncle Robert stated and the doctor couldn't help but nod.

"Why is he so adamant?" He asked looking at Uncle Robert and he roamed his hand through his slightly grey hairs.

"He's like that. He wants everything according to him..." Uncle Robert stated and the doctor cut in, "and everyone too." His labored breath shows how exhausted he is.

They both discussed and stood up. My heart dropped in my stomach as they stood up to leave. I clenched my eyes closed in fear of getting caught red-handed. But fortunately, they passed without noticing my presence behind the door.

I waited for them to leave. Intended to go towards the lab once again to find out what was inside. A loud deafening scream I heard halted my steps and made me shudder with fear.

I was alarmed. What was that?

My heartbeat fastened as I stepped forward towards the lab gulping down the fear as curiosity made its way fading everything away in my path. Another heart-wrenching scream and I shut my mouth with my palm to prevent myself from crying.

One can imagine the kind of pain behind these screams. It feels unbearable. The deafening screams continued and I couldn't help but barge inside. There was a translucent glass that separated the cabins. Sitting under a wide desk I saw a blurred image of someone lying on the bed. Two nurses came out and the doctor too.

The table that I used for hiding myself was a large wooden table that consisted of drawers and piles of paper.

I crawled slowly inside the glass cabin. Standing up I dusted my dress a little to clean it. My eyes fell on the person lying there. I went closer.

His face was hidden with a blanket as if he'd been sleeping for hours but only I knew how dreadful those screams were I heard a few moments ago.

Looks like this human has been given some injection to relax or sleep. The pain I felt listening to all those screams says how badly they can torture someone.

I grabbed the blanket and slowly removed it. My hands shivering and my heart was pounding. When I revealed his half face realisation hit me hard.

I know him! My eyes welled up. I was praying and hoping for the best. I don't want to see him here. Please, God.

I saw tears leaking from the corner of his closed eyes showing how much he had been suffering. I snatched the blanket away revealing his whole face and I got the biggest shock of my life.

No! It's not possible.

I saw his dried lips and his paled face. With shivering hands, I touched his cheeks. He felt cold.

"Alaric!" Another tear rolled down my cheeks as I took his hand in mine. He was immobile.

I squeezed his hand in agony and suddenly someone grabbed me from behind.
