Memory Continued

After helping Eren out of the well, Arden immediately began tending to his sore wounds. The rest of the 2 squads deemed it safe to approach so spread out on the wooden benches on the field. Hange and Moblit had went off to do something. Leaving Levi to monitor Eren, hovering next to him the whole time with a permanent scowl etched onto his face.

Whilst cleaning Eren's wounds, Arden couldn't help but notice how deep his bite wounds were. Being a demon, she bit plenty of people to feed on their blood, meaning she knew just how much force needed to be used for the teeth to pierce the skin. So seeing the deep, red raw bite marks littered across Eren's hands told her how determined the young boy was. Determined to change to a Titan and prove his worth and value to the Scouts.

It was about half an hour later that Arden went to check Eren's wounds, sitting next to him on the bench as she carefully unwrapped the bandages. And was immediately greeted with the still very prominent bite wounds that hadn't healed an inch. It was strange, Eren was able to regenerate entire limbs yet some small, little bite marks wouldn't heal?

Arden frowned, "They still haven't healed yet." She frowned before pulling Eren's hands to her lap and re-wrapping the bandages.

Levi, who stood next to the bench, narrowed his eyes at the fidgeting boy, "You're telling me the bite wounds on your hands show no sign of healing?"

"None, sir." Eren replied sullenly, just as confused as the Captain.

"No offense, but you're not much good to us in this form. If you can't change, our plans for Wall Maria go up in smoke. Pull it together. And yes, that is an order." Levi glowered at him, speaking sternly with an edge of irritation before turning and walking away.

"Yes, sir." Eren replied breathlessly, sounding utterly defeated.

"C'mon, don't lose heart kid. You'll get it." Eld tried to reassure, but Eren didn't stand convinced.

"Maybe, I don't know." Eren sighed.

Finishing with his bandages, Arden placed a gently hand on his shoulder and gave it a squeeze, "Don't worry about what the Captain said. He's just focused on his duty as a soldier. He's under more pressure than you'd think. But no matter what you're still an asset to humanity. You just need to learn control and it will take time. To hell, if it were easy enough to get it first time."

Eren softened his gaze at her, giving her a thankful smile before Oruo calmly cut in, "Well, that's one hell of a way to learn you're more human than suspected."

"Look at it this way, it's a lot better to find out now than in the field. Back to the drawing board, huh?" Eld spoke.

Gunther chimed in for the first time, "He's right. No such thing as being too careful when so much is ridin' on you."

Arden eyed the three suspiciously, noting how surprisingly calm they were. They must be relieved that he couldn't change. She internally surmised, watching as Eren picked up a spoon, only to whince in pain because of his hands and lose grip, sending the spoon down onto the grass.

"Is everything okay?" Eld asked, also noting the boys quiet grunt of pain.

"Yeah." Eren assured, reaching down to grab the fallen spoon. But the moment his hands clasped the cool metal, a bright flash of yellow lightning struck the sky as everything around the boy was sent flying backwards in a gush of scalding wind.
