Don’t hate him?

Du You did not expect such an answer.

He goes over the previous conversation, and believes himself not to have expressed negativity in any sense.

He just thought Qin Ge should live his own life. Even if they really were biological brothers, after reaching adulthood they ought not to cling to each other so much.

System [That’s true, but you could have been more roundabout about it!]

Du You [Roundabout?]

System [For example, emphasising that considerate side of what you wanted to say]

Du You [I already meant it that way]

System [Wrong!]

No matter how one interprets it the core idea sounded like ‘the past is unimportant so I hope you will stop intruding on my life’!

[Then I will try again]

[Wait!] The system quickly stops him [Stop making this even more complicated]

It is certain that its host’s habits in speaking would just deliver another critical blow to the guy.

Suddenly, a ‘crack,’ as if something has touched something else.

But there’s nobody here beyond the two of them.

Qin Ge is still holding onto his hand.

Du You takes his hand back, and tells him, “I don’t hate you,” then, “though, I will also not retract what I just said.”

Qin Ge lowers his hand as what he held is no longer there.

After a brief silence, “did you suddenly say these because something happened?”

He looks up, right into Du You’s eyes, “gege, do you have someone you like?”

Du You does not understand, “what?”

“…”

Qin Ge couldn’t think of any other reason otherwise.

He knows that Du You has always been troubled when he approached. This only stopped when he regained his memories slowly.

He thought it was all turning out for the better——If not for those eyesores obstructing.

Especially yesterday. He saw gege hugging that arrogant bastard——Or rather, that bastard burying himself in him.

No matter what, though, his gege didn’t push him away.

Even if he is always repelled when he approaches Du You.

Did he do something to cause Du You to say things like that to him?

To throw him away, to leave him behind.

Qin Ge shakes his head though, seeing Du You all confused, “nevermind.”

The answer is unimportant.

Because he will not change himself no matter what the answer was.

Even if gege has someone he likes now, and that person is not him,

… He does not plan on giving up.

They walk back towards the house now that the stroll’s over.

This time, Qin Ge did not demand to stay for the night. He goes back to his own home.

He tilts his head, looking quietly at Du You, then, “good night, gege.”

“Good night.”

As Du You watches him leave, he suddenly recalls why he thought the question sounded familiar to him.

Back then, it was Shen Chen asking him.

And it would appear that they were not asking about his preference for anime characters, but someone he actually likes in real life.

But… someone he likes.

Someone he likes.

Someone, he likes?

He does not understand why someone would ask.

He hears footsteps from the corridor when he goes back inside. It’s You Haoyu.

He pauses when he sees him.

Ten minutes ago, You Haoyu was sitting inside the guest room in the Du residence.

He opened the script on the table, but he couldn’t read at all.

It’s as if the characters on the paper have all blended into a pile under the warm lighting.

So he put his pen down, stood up, to get some fresh air.

He pulled the curtains open. Outside was dense vegetation, and the fresh air now surrounded him after opening the window.

Its cold chill has cleared his mind up a bit.

Until now, his mind was just full of words Qin Ge spoke. It was like being trapped in a maze of words.

Now, he has finally made peace with himself. He threw all the messed up thoughts away.

So what if he knew how Du You was feeling. It’s not like his own feelings would have been affected.

But if he stayed where he was, then that would be it between him and Du You.

It’s just like when he left his home. He did what he wanted to do, even if there were challenges along the way, he conquered them all.

The bushes swayed in the air and You Haoyu was able to glimpse outside for a second, then, his brows furrowed.

Two familiar figures were walking. Their forms were unclear through the greenery and the distance, but he recognised them nonetheless.

It was Du You and that didi clinging onto him.

They seemed to be talking about something. He couldn’t hear them, but then, about ten minutes later, Qin Ge took Du You’s hand and put it right in front of his face.

It looked suggestive from afar.

What were they doing?

You Haoyu’s fingers gripping onto the window were subconsciously tightening as his amber eyes reflected the intimately interacting figures of the two.
