"Y/N, wasn't expecting to see you here!" Peter Bonnington, Lewis' race engineer, said as you walked into the Mercedes hospitality. It was the first race you'd be going to with Y/S/N who was about to turn three. You and Lewis had decided not to bring him to any races before due to the chaotic atmosphere which was no place for a young child like Y/S/N. It was the Italian Grand Prix and your London home was feeling very quiet since the end of the Summer break and there was only so many times that you could visit family members before they got sick of you. Thus, you decided it was high time that Y/S/N went to his first race and what better one than the Italian Grand Prix as you'd be able to stay in your Monacan home afterwards and have a mini holiday until Lewis had to leave for Singapore.
"Y/S/N was missing Lewis so we're going to surprise him" you said. "Lewis doesn't know?" Peter questioned and you shook your head telling him that you were going to surprise him after his free practice session was over. You followed Peter to the Paddock, while carrying Y/S/N, and quickly hid at the back of the motorhome while Lewis came in to get into his car, he had a quick conversation with Peter and the other engineers before driving out of the paddock and onto the track.
While Lewis was out practicing you found Charlie, his press officer, and struck up a conversation with her about Lewis' commitment later this afternoon as you'd planned to have a family meal tonight ahead of qualifying tomorrow. Thankfully Charlie said that after he had his debrief with his team, he was free for the rest of the evening.
It was some time later and Lewis was still practicing out on the track, occasionally coming into the pitstop to try different tyres and quickly talk to his team. It was on these occasions that you and Y/S/N had to hide in order to not spoil the surprise. In order to ensure that the surprise wasn't spoiled you decided to take Y/S/N to the Mercedes hospitality to get him some food as it was nearing lunchtime. You knew Lewis would be much longer as the session would be ending in about 20 minutes and you would've waited it out but when Y/S/N gets hungry, he gets hungry.
"Choo, choo! Here comes the train!" You laughed as you fed him a small sandwich. You continued to feed him until it was clear that he was full, and you quickly got two coffees to go; one for you and one for Lewis. As you reached the paddock for the second time, the Mercedes 44 car was just being pushed into the paddock and you rushed into the paddock in order to surprise him.
"Are we going to surprise Daddy?" You asked Y/S/N in a childish tone, who giggles in agreement as he nodded his head. You grabbed his hand and pulled him along towards Lewis. Once Y/S/N saw Lewis he pulled his hand out of your grasp and ran towards his dad.
"Daddy!" Y/S/N cheered as he neared him, Lewis' gaze snapped from Peter toward his son and a large smile appeared on his face. You took this as an opportunity to get some cute photos of the two of them together as due to his job, it was difficult to get photos of the two of them.
"Y/S/N!" Lewis said and scooped him up into his arms, ruffling his hair and tickling his tummy. "Where's mummy?" He asked and spun around trying to spot you and smiling once he did. He couldn't believe that you'd managed to surprise him as you'd told him you wouldn't be able to make any more races this season. "What are you doing here?" He said in disbelief as he wrapped an arm around you and pulled you in for a hug, kissing your forehead.
"The house was quiet." You said as if that explained everything. Lewis nodded in understanding and quickly asked Charlie if she would take a photo of the three of you. Your family.
"Have I ever told you how much I love you?"
"Yes, but you can continue to do so, I don't mind." You giggled and cuddled closer into his chest, his race suit was still warm from the heat of the practice session and you were taking full advantage of it.
"Who's minding Coco and Roscoe?" He asked and you pulled away to stare at him. Trust him to bring up the dogs during a cute family moment like this.
