Y/N jumped the gun, that much she could admit. Deep down she knew that she should've rejected the offer, but an offer like that doesn't come often and it would open so many doors for her. She barely gave it a second thought before responding with her agreement, it was minutes afterwards when she properly realised what she'd just done and seconds after that that she was on the phone to Lucia, her best friend.

"Lucia, I've screwed up!" Y/N cried down the phone, she could almost tell that Lucia had just stiffened hearing the distressed voice of her friend, "I've accepted a job."

"Y/N, that's amazing! Congratulations!" Lucia cheered, "What for?"

"Ferrari."

"Oh. Uh ... still great news though." Lucia tried to cheer her up.

"What am I going to do?" Y/N rubbed her forehead as she tried to think of possible solutions, she was sitting on the settee, hunched over. "You are going to do that job and be brilliant." Lucia told her in a stern voice, Y/N could imagine that she was using her index finger to emphasise her words, even though Y/N wasn't there in person it was just something that Lucia did when she was trying to be stern. "You are going to go to Maranello, you are going to do your job and you are going to prove to Sebastian that you don't need him."

"I don't need him, I have Michel" Y/N said somewhat confused. She had been in a serious relationship with Michel for over a year. It had taken her a while to get over Sebastian, they are been going out for nearly 3 years when he broke up with her. Y/N still didn't know why, but conveniently it was nicely timed with his move to Ferrari. Lucia hummed in response and began to speak but she was interrupted by the lock of Y/N's apartment jiggling. "Michel's home, I'll speak to you later." No sooner had Y/N hung up that Michel was walking through the living room to greet her, "Hi," Y/N murmured pressing a peck to his lips. He leaned his hand on the back of her chair to stabilise himself as he glanced at her laptop screen.

"Ferrari?"

"Yeah, they offered me some work." She muttered; her stare was focused on the screen.

"That's amazing, love! I hope you said yes." When she nodded in confirmation, Michel punched the air in rejoice. "Wow, you're amazing!"

One week later, Y/N found herself setting up her camera and lights in a large room in front of a green screen. She had been on countless calls and skype meetings leading up to the day with the marketing team at Ferrari. Y/N would be photographing Sebastian today and then tomorrow, Charles. She was nervous. It had been 5 years since she'd properly seen or talked to Sebastian, she knew from the media that he had a fiancée, Hanna. She was happy for him; she had no reason to be jealous – she had Michel.

"And here we go. Y/N is going to be photographing you today and then Charles tomorrow." A blonde woman said who Y/N recognised as Britta led Sebastian into the room. She walked over to reintroduce herself (simply out of curtesy, but it felt weird with their history) and he froze in his movement as his eyes caught hers. His eyes widened, his jaw feel open slightly and subtly he tugged on Britta's elbow, but she merely yanked herself out of his grasp and moved back to allow them to work in peace.

"So, if you just stand on the 'X' there and hold your helmet by your side. We'll get a few like this and then we'll go from there."

Awkward wasn't even the word. The atmosphere was stiff and tense, and it was a miracle that no one else picked up on it. Y/N was doing her best to be professional – as was Sebastian. By the time that lunch rolled around, Y/N couldn't wait for a small break and wasted no time in grabbing some food and sitting by her computer to look at the photos she'd taken. A shadow appeared over her laptop and a hand lay on her shoulder, she took a deep breath and opened her mouth to speak, but nothing came out. She wasn't sure were to start.

"I'm sorry." Sebastian began. Y/N recoiled and tilted her head in confusion, seeing her expression, he continued, "I was a dick. I left you without any explanation." Feeling worried that he was going to try and get back with her, she stuttered out a response, "I have a boyfriend." His eyebrows rose in surprise and he took a small step back, "I know. Michel, right? I may not have social media, but that doesn't mean I'm oblivious." He explained after seeing her confused face. "Me and Hanna are expecting out first child." Y/N's eyes widened, but she was quick to correct herself and splutter out a congratulations. "What I wanted to say was that I owe you an explanation, no – let me finish. I wanted to focus on Ferrari. 2014 was not a good season and I wanted to put everything in 2015 to show them that they'd didn't make a mistake."

"I had my suspicions that that was why, but I didn't want to jump to conclusions. I'm happy now and I'm happy for you."

"As I am for you."

It was like a flip of the switch. The atmosphere after lunch was totally different to that of before lunch and secretly all those present were grateful. The ease of communication between Sebastian and Y/N allowed the photos to come out amazing and Y/N knew these would be some great promo shots for the team. "Let me see." Sebastian leaned over to watch as Y/N flicked through the photos, "I have no words. Amazing."

"Of course they are" Y/N jokingly punched his shoulder, the two of them laughing it off. It had certainly been a while since the two had acted like this and it was safe to say that they were grateful that they had been able to salvage their friendship.
