Chapter thirty-two: "Crowded Ancestral Tree"

We both headed off to bed and as we got ready to sleep I couldn't stop myself from hugging and kissing Cloud every minute after what Nick said to me

It felt like my every moment with him could disappear if I don't do any physical like hugging or kissing him
I'm even more afraid if this was all a dream and I would wake up only to find out that I'm back at the seaside town without Cloud, my family, and friends with me

The fact that he could disappear anytime just hits me back to reality
I have to do my best

I want to have a future with him but that future keeps getting blurrier the more I get anxious about his mental condition
You couldn't tell if a person is ok or not based on how they act on the outside

That's what made this situation tough. This is not like an external wound that you would see it heal, this wound is from the heart and mind so nobody could tell if you're healed or not

Cloud was not complaining that I keep giving him physical affections but it made him worried about me "Angel are you sure you're alright? I get the feeling that you're crying on something else other than Bambi"

I forced a smile pretending that everything is fine "I'm alright, I just...got hit with reality again that I could lose someone"
This is as far as I can say to him, anything more than that might trigger anything so I was being wary

My sentence made Cloud stop moving on the bed, he faced me and saw my sullen face. I couldn't stop myself from letting a tear fall out of my eye then I quickly wiped it off using the back of my hand

Cloud held my hand and pulled me to sit beside him on the bed "Listen, it's bad if you keep thinking of things that aren't happening yet. If you keep that up you might miss out on making memories with everybody right now"

"Didn't expect you to say that"

He gave out a light laugh "My old therapist told me that to help me with my trauma months after Meghan died"

His eyes shined when he mentioned his late sister and I took the risk to ask him "What was she like?"

Cloud pulled me to the center of the bed and we both tucked in ourselves under the duvet while I rested my head on Cloud's arm which I used like a pillow

"She was hard-headed and was always fighting with my dad but we all knew he had a soft spot for her"

I embraced him "Why do they always fight?"

He shrugged and chuckled "They fight about everything but at the end of the day they both pretended like the fight didn't happen and everything just goes back to normal without either of them apologizing to each other"

"I wonder if she would like me since your brothers did" I questioned
I never met Meghan but it would be nice to have a female Marshall sibling that I could talk to so I can understand them more

Cloud didn't hesitate to nod confidently "I'm sure she would've loved to have you in the family just like how Mom is thrilled"

"Where is she resting right now?"

"At the family cemetery 20 feet away from the mansion or the palace as you called it, just somewhere near the 900-year-old red oak tree"

I smiled up at him "I remembered that when I first entered the palace your mother showed me that tree, I saw your name on one of the thin woods being hung up on the branch by a red rope by the east side"

He gently held and caressed my hand before kissing the back of my hand more specifically the location of my ring finger "Once we get married your name will be included on that tree"
