Chapter thirty-four: "Redder Than This"

Not only was Cloud worried but he was not very happy that I fainted that he was starting to scold me
I'll take a scolding anyway as long as he is still here with me

He has a stern face with his arms crossed showing his muscular bicep through his long-sleeved sweater when he does it
It was hard not looking away when I saw it

"Angel are you even listening?" he asked me then snapped his fingers in front of my face, the snapping of fingers broke me in my train of thoughts then made me jump back

I glanced at Cloud before my eyes went down to my hands that were resting on my lap "I'm sorry"

When I looked down my hair that was down made its way to covering half of my face, I was wearing socks and I played with my toes together trying I ease the stress that I accumulated since I got Cloud angry and I never see him this angry before
Sure he gets angry but not to the point that he puts on a stern face and started scolding me

When he is usually angry it would only take him a few minutes until he calms down but it was already an hour since he started talking to me right after I woke up

Cloud was holding himself real hard to not try and scare me with his anger so he stood up and left me alone in the bedroom but before he left he said "Get some rest" before closing the door on his way out

I tried to squeeze my eyes shut and cover my entire body with the duvet

Trust me, I did try to rest but his stern worried face kept me awake and I couldn't erase the image in my mind like it was haunting me unless I do something about it, my eyes shot open
I better do something about this

There was no noise outside the door so I sat up and quietly walked up to the door, I opened the door slightly to peek outside and there was no one
He must be in the living room

I tiptoed around the penthouse like I was a burglar trying to steal something, when I finally reached the living room I found Cloud on the kitchen island drinking one beer bottle down

"Cloud?" I startled him when I called out his name
He does drink but it was only limited to one bottle unlike in the past him when he drank even 5 bottles in one go

He has a guilty look on his face when I caught him drinking, he looked at the beer bottle in his hands then glanced up to face me "I just wanted to drink right now" he explained himself

I walked up to him and grabbed the beer bottle in his hands then I drank the rest of the beer in front of him with his eyes wide "Angel wai-" "I just wanted to drink too"
Everything that happened today just made me want to drink as Cloud did, I'm not gonna lie that drinking did make me almost forget the problem

I set down the beer bottle on the kitchen island counter beside Cloud and rested my head on his shoulder "I could go for another one"

He chuckled "I never knew you drink"

"I drank my first beer when I was 16 at a football house party, Jane and Will dragged me to the party"
Cloud wasn't there when I drank my first beer because I think he went somewhere for a photoshoot at the time

My hand slowly went to hold his and we intertwine our fingers together "About what happened today"

He looks down at me ready to listen to what I am about to say

The air in the room was no longer cold and he didn't have that stern face anymore, I leaned in and kissed him. His hand went up to the nape of my neck to pull me closer during our kiss, when we were done I pulled away with our noses still touching "Yesterday, I couldn't take my mind off what would have happened to you if I weren't there"
