Chapter ninety: "Understand"

With the brothers holding me back and the cousins trying their best to calm me down. Lance took the chance and ran towards the door
Not if I can help it!

It's almost like all the desperation of beating him up came over me that I managed to get out of the brother's grip and grabbed a light chair that was coincidentally near me. I threw that chair at the door stopping Lance

The chair didn't break but the loud sound made everybody startled

I walked up to Lance until I felt someone holding my wrist, my head turned to find Theo stopping me "Penelope, stop this stupidness"

I didn't care if his wife, children, or even his entire clan can see this. With one swoop, I slapped him hard across his face starting from his left cheek with my palm and swooping my hand back so I can slap his right cheek with the back of my hand "Shut up you worthless piece of shit"

Theo was left shocked and speechless

"The audacity of this stupid girl" Lance spoke under his breath, thankfully I have sharp ears so I removed my shoe and toss it at his face giving him a bleeding nose

"Don't talk while I'm talking to shitface, UNDERSTAND!?" I yelled at him which made Theo jump from behind me. Lance shut his mouth and nodded at me before one of his relatives handed him a tissue while I focused my attention on Theo

Even though I was against these 2 big men, the thought of Cloud being neglected and blamed for deaths that weren't truly his fault for many years made me furious

Sophia wanted to stop me but she didn't do it because what I'm doing is what she wanted to do for a long time but never had the willpower to do it

I cleared my throat and stood up straight in front of the man that neglected Cloud's trauma and suffering, the man who was supposed to be the one giving him support "Before I start, does anybody want to have a word with me? Because from my eyes I can tell that you lot have been wanting to ask me about my relationship with Cloud" my eyes darted at the aunts and uncles

They all kept quiet in hopes that I won't involve them in this mess
Well, it looks like their hopes are crushed

Nobody answered me "Good, does Ava want to have a word about this?"

Everybody looked at Ava who has a nonchalant face because she was relaxing in front of a warm fire, drinking hot coffee and dunking oatmeal cookies in it now and then "You go on ahead dear, I might have a heart attack telling these two off"

"Thank you, how about you Sophia?"

Her eyes furrowed at me then glanced at her husband, Theo was giving her the 'Help me' look but she decided it was for the best, so she ignored his gaze and turned to the other cheek

This left Theo taken back by the woman he cared for "Why would you do this? Sophie answer me" he wanted an answer but she ignored his question. He darted his eyes at his sons but they all pretended to not see him and only comforted their mother

My hand grabbed his shirt and yanked it down so we can meet eye to eye "See? Isn't this what you wanted?"

I pointed my index finger at his wife and children "You neglected them!"

"I DID NOT!" he answered loudly so I slapped him again
My hand sting a lot from that slap but my fury has not died down yet

I spoke through gritted teeth "Yes you did"

Theo was left shaking his head in confusion. I now did my best to make the situation clear to him "After the accident, you started to neglect Cloud, THE ONLY CHILD YOU HAVE IN THE CAR THAT REMAINED ALIVE AFTER THE ACCIDENT!"

I laughed a little like I was going insane "And what did you do? Yeah, nothing. You ignored him and started to ignore your other sons too. All that's left of your attention was your wife"

Liam looked at all of his younger brothers who he had to take care of and be like a father figure in his Dad's place because he is the eldest

"Be a man and take care of them not financially but physically, emotionally, and mentally! if not, you will lose them all"

Theo's dark forest green eyes widened in shock, he twisted his head at Sophia "Hon, what is she talking about?"

Sophia bit her lip before standing up "I think we should talk about this somewhere private" she crossed her arms with a sullen expression while walking out of the room with Theo tailing her

With Theo now out of the room, my attention is now focused on Lance who sat on the sofa where his relatives help him take care of his bleeding nose

"And as for you"

Lance jumped from his seat and look up at me

I can't blame a man who lost his children to act rashly but he tormented an innocent survivor to the point that the survivor is starting to have thoughts about ending his life

Cloud was innocent

"Surely I can't tell you that you should forget about the accident but I will say this, what on earth can a little boy would do so much to cause a horrific accident?"

Lance's eyes darkened a bit "He and his sister fought at the back of the car, at least that's what he said at the hospital. If they didn't do that maybe the driver could've focused better on the road" his hand gripped tightly that his knuckles were turning white

He was so lost when his children died that his eyes watered when looking at me "I don't know who to blame here, they were all so young. My children were only teenagers but they knew how to drive properly, my only conclusion was to blame this on the main reason who caused the accident"

I sink my nails deep into the skin of my palm that it started to bleed, Juliet noticed it so she asked a maid for a first aid kit

"Cloud already has trauma, he watched his sister die in front of his eyes as she take her last breath without help for two fucking hours, why? Because of the storm! Nobody can see them and your kid who was the driver must have a hard time driving"

Lance was hit with the reality that maybe it wasn't Cloud that caused the accident but the rain and the problem in driving, the driver was his kid too

The major reason was the rain, nobody can see through so much rain at night on a road beside a steep hill

Since I'm done venting out about Theo and Lance's problem, it was time to shift my focus to the last problem this family has

"The Marshall family values, become perfect and excellent. Surely you all had so much trauma going to keep up that stupid value" I chuckled lowly "Remember Arthur?"

Ava raised her hand "I do" she grinned and I smiled at her

"Anyone else?"

The majority of them hesitated to raise their hand because, in their mind, it's annoying to remember such a man that almost lost their riches

"You guys could've done so much better, you all have the upper hand in changing the values but took pride in it because there was something in it for you"
Calling them out was my last resort

"I've seen deaths surrounding this value" I walked up to Juliet who was busy patting and rubbing her tummy gently "I don't want to have my family be included in this" I added
