Chapter forty-nine: "Innocent"

I smiled at him in relief and happiness before I nuzzled myself at the crook of his neck while he hugs me tight

Right now smells like burnt woods, the forest right after the rain and there seems to be a hint of vanilla, it was both refreshing and sweet

We were just there

No talking, just physical affection that there are no words needed to say that we were happy with each other's presence, my fingers started to play with his hair then I twisted one of his wavy hair around my finger

"I was thinking of getting a new cut," he said to me

I nodded "Yeah, I agree although surprisingly, you manage to pull off a good man bun" I giggled as I pointed to the small bun on top of his head
Cloud wasn't planning on growing out his hair so he just put his hair in a man bun when he is a bit lazy for getting a cut

Suddenly there was a knock at my door which alarmed me and Cloud
If there was one rule that Dad gave me when I became a teenager, is that no boys are allowed to stay for the night in my bedroom under my parents' roof

Yes, even if I'm already a college student I should know my location right now. It is surely not the penthouse

My head turned to Cloud "You gotta get out"

He gave me a puzzled look "Why? Can't you just hide me in the closet or under your bed?"
Even if hiding Cloud was a good plan, my Dad has that weird Dad senses that he just knows that there might be someone hiding in my room

The knock at the door got louder so it made me stand up and pull Cloud out of my bed "Angel?"

I started to push him out of the window "Angel what the heck?!"

He stopped me by using his strong arms to prevent himself from getting out of the window "Angel if you continue to push me out of the window I might fall"

"Well your life insurance can save you then" I wittily said to him which made him let out a dead laugh that he forcefully turned his entire body around to face me

"Then I'll stay here, falling out of the window because of being afraid of getting caught is an embarrassment to the Marshall name"
Gosh, Cloud and his stubbornness is just the signature Marshall move. His siblings are just as stubborn as him and I know that because my sisters are close with his brothers

When someone provokes at least one of the brothers, they won't hesitate to start a fight if it means that they are protecting their honor and pride

It took all 5 of my sisters and Cloud's brothers to stop Noah when someone provoked him, so they called up Caramia to knock him out cold

"Cloud I don't wanna get scolded by Dad"

He crossed his arms "Then let him scold me"
THAT'S EVEN MORE WORSE!!

My Dad has high hopes for Cloud and seeing him act rebellious than being his Golden Boy attitude might start an alarm in my Dad's Father senses

"Goddamn it Cloud" I groaned in defeat before I slap his chest as my last resort to showing my distress about the situation

He smirked in victory before kissing my forehead and walking up to my door to answer the knock, just as I expected there were gasps of surprise from my sisters "CLOUD?!"

Wendy poked her head inside the room to look at me with a smug face "You are so in big trouble with Dad"
You don't think I don't know that?

Once Mom and Dad saw Cloud in my bedroom they both looked at me "Do you wanna explain or do we have to ask your boyfriend?" Dad asked me with a fatherly look on his face like this situation didn't faze him at all
He must've done this when he was younger

I grinned sheepishly at him

All of us were now in the dining room and I was seated next to Nick who was sipping tea that Aunt Laborè offered to him since she came home

My sisters were also drinking tea with me and Nick on the table while my parents were conversing with Cloud in the living, which by the way we can hear the conversation

"I get that you are a responsible person Cloud and we know how much you care for Penelope, we can accept you even at this late hour but please just enter through the front door" Mom explained to him and Cloud nodded with a charismatic smile on his face

"Young man, I expect that you didn't do anything with my daughter while being alone with her in her bedroom, did you?" Dad asked him

I peeked to check his reaction, there he grinned at them "None sir, we haven't done anything"

That's where I accidentally sipped the tea wrong and I started coughing, Nick patted my back to help me because I almost choked on warm tea. Ella stood up to get a glass of water before handing it to me

"You ok sweetie?" Dad asked me with concern and I nodded to him with no answer as I pretended to catch my breath after drinking the water

Cloud flashed me a smirk when my parents were looking at me
How could you say all that with an innocent face?!

Dad, you were already a few weeks late, we had already done something and back in my bedroom we did make out

If there was a contest where a boyfriend can pretend to be innocent in front of the girlfriend's parents, I would crown Cloud the winner

My parents were easily persuaded that he didn't do anything with me so they gave out a sigh of relief with my Mom having her hand rested on her chest because my family values chastity before marriage
Yeah, I'm going to hell

Cloud was shining with innocence like a Golden boy would

Even if my parents were easily fooled that doesn't mean he fooled Nick or even my sisters, Aunt Laborè was thankfully outside of the house to talk with Sophia on her phone. All of them knew it but they wouldn't say it, instead, they all gave me smug looks

I traced the rim of the teacup with my fingertips before whispering to them "Can you guys keep it a secret?" I pleaded to them and they all gave me an ok sign

Nick gave me a small smile and I patted his shoulder "Sorry about earlier"

Nick was never the type to hold grudges so he patted my head "Don't worry I'm not angry about it, although you did hurt my feelings when you acted so cold"
I'm sure the twins have never seen my cold side before so when I gave Nick the cold shoulder he was beyond hurt

Cloud was done talking to my parents so he walked up to us, more specifically me

My sisters gave him the "I know what's going on" look

Cloud checked to see if my parents were there before saying "Yes, we did it"

Nick chuckled as my sisters either groaned in playful disgust or annoyance

"Well at least we know who isn't a virgin anymore," Adeline said after she finished her cup of tea and set it down on the table

Natalie shot her a look "Adeline we know, there is no need for you to say it out loud"

Cara in shot me a concerned look "Be careful"
Cars in maybe violent but she is the most concerned out of all the siblings like a worried mother
