'By the time her prayer was over Dorinda was sobbing. She'd made a complete mess of her once wonderful life, now she was feeling like a lost little girl a long way from home. So Doe did the only thing that made sense...she called her mother.'
Mattie: Hello?
Dorinda had tears streaming down her face as she tried to speak.
Dorinda: Mama...
Mattie: Dorinda? Doe what's wrong with you, you crying?
Dorinda: Mama I don't know what to do anymore it's all so screwed up it's just a mess!
Dorinda started to cry harder into the receiver.
Mattie: What's a mess Doe?
Dorinda: My life mommy!
Mattie: Oh Dorinda stop crying whatever it is I promise it's gonna be alright, why don't you come on by the house and we can talk baby
Dorinda: ...Okay
Dorinda sniffled, her mother always brought her peace whenever she was struggling.
Mattie: Alright now don't be taking no 2 and 3 hours to get here, you ain't that far out in the suburbs
Dorinda let out a small laugh she needed that right now.
Dorinda: Yes ma'am I'll be there soon
Mattie: Okay baby see you in a little while
After Mattie hung up Dorinda jumped in the shower, got dressed and was now parking her car in front of her mothers home.When she got out the car, Doe suddenly heard a loud voice behind her.
Lorenzo: Hey Auntie Doe Doe!!!
Dorinda turned around to see her sister Denise's son running over to her with a basketball in his hand.
Dorinda: Hey baby you almost gave your auntie a heart attack!
Lorenzo: My bad auntie I'm just happy to see you
Dorinda: Aww I'm happy to see you too nephew, what you doing over here?
Lorenzo: Well mama had to go to work and Larry was busy, so I'm here with Grandma for the day
Dorinda: Why you not in school baby?
Lorenzo: ...I didn't feel good this morning
Dorinda: Well you look fine to me what was wrong?
Lorenzo: It must've been a morning stomach bug
Dorinda laughed and kissed his forehead
Dorinda: You so silly boy, imma go talk to your grandmama you go finish playing with your little friends
