BANG.

The Knight Bus came to a stop at the gates of Hogwarts, narrowly missing Nico.

"Whoo," Will sighed. "That would've cost me too much ambrosia if you'd been hit."

The kids rolled out of the bus, either clutching their stomachs, or their ears.

I smirked. "Sweet ride?"

Ron burped in response.

Remus got down from the bus, grinning. "I see you're already here."

"Wow, Captain Obvious," Alex rolled her eyes.

Remus grinned even wider.

"Got any tips for us this winter?" I asked, grinning.

"Always use melted unsalted butter for a good cookie," Remus told us wisely. "For a a nice and soft middle, and crispy edges."

"I'll note that down," Alex smiled.

"It's good to see you, Remus," I said, shaking his hand. "Hopefully, we'll all be together for Christmas next year."

Remus nodded, smiling. "Maybe we can try cheesecake."

"Nothing beats Cheesecake Factory, though," Alex shrugged.

"Sorry we couldn't make time to see Sirius," I smiled. "We'll make up for it over the summer holidays."

"He was fine with it," Remus said. "He was always a  Christmas lover..... and then he became depressed about not being able to spend it with his niece and nephews. And then he'd stand up, and say 'it's for their own good,' very determinedly, and get back to singing 'God rest ye, merry hippogriffs,' at the top of his lungs."

Alex and I chuckled.

"Aw," Annabeth said. "That's cute."

"Can we go in?" Hermione said, chattering. "I'm shivering."

"You'll be safe once you're in the grounds," said Tonks, casting a careful eye around at the deserted road. "Have a good term, OK?"

"Look after yourselves," said Lupin, shaking hands all round and reaching Harry last.

"Have a good time, Tonks," Jason said. "Happy New Year."

"Happy New Year," Tonks grinned back, shaking hands with everyone.

The Knight Bus took off a with a BANG.

We struggled up the slippery drive towards the castle, Harry, Hermione, Ron, Ginny, Fred and George dragging their trunks. Hermione was already talking about knitting a few elf hats before bedtime.

"Let's forget that for a moment," Annabeth interrupted, smiling. "How was the holiday?"

"Oh, lovely," Hermione said.

"More importantly, how's Arthur?" Alex asked.

"He's better," Hermione smiled. "Although there was this one moment when he got himself stitches instead of getting himself magically healed..."

"I'm all ears, sister," Annabeth and Alex grinned together.

Harry seemed rather distracted all the time. "What happened?" Jason asked, putting a comforting arm around him.

Harry did not answer.

"Well, if I were in his place, I'd be pretty depressed too," Ron said, nodding.

"What is his place?" I asked, confused.

"He has to take Occlumency lessons.... with Snape," Ron scowled.
