If walls could talk
Maybe they would --
Speaking and leaking
More than they should
Maybe they would tell
All the secrets and joy
That passed through these rooms
When I was a boy
Little was I,
small and afraid,
Eating out of a hand
The devil himself made
Death linger still
In these old, dark rooms
Unable to be purged
Even after many moons
But maybe if walls could speak
And reveal what they've seen
They wouldn't anyway
Because they're not that mean
Some things are better laid to rest
Held under lock and key
Dusty and decrepit
Never to be seen
