307. Glasses: Write about a pair of eyeglasses or someone wearing glasses.

I saw this writing prompt and now seems the perfect time to try it out --

It was a passing skateboarder that knocked into me. He didn't even stop to help me up, but just garbled a "sorry" and rolled onward, while I was left searching frantically for my glasses like Velma from Scooby-Doo. My eyes were squeezed shut, as my hands slapped the pavement around me, scattering my school papers but never finding the thin metal bands of my glasses.

I couldn't see. If only someone would help me. I didn't dare open my eyes. My condition was rare, but if my eyes had direct contact with sunlight, they would burn. It's how it's always been.

But judging from the sounds, no one was around. I didn't know where my phones was, either, so I couldn't call for help. I had to open my eyes... but just for a second! Just so I could see. Hopefully it wouldn't cause too much damage.

Curse that skateboarder.

I breathed deeply. I hadn't looked at the world without my glasses since I was born. My parents were always very adamant that they always be upon my face. If only I hadn't sneaked out, then this wouldn't have happened.

I quickly opened my eyes, glanced around, and then closed them again. I had located my glasses. I was okay.

Except... I had seen something else while my eyes were open. Something that I had never seen before. Something that didn’t make sense.

I opened my eyes again and looked at the monsters.
