Elleonora's PoV:
"We should eat more here" Miles spoke as he ate the burger
"These hamburguers are delicious" Jenny said munching the burger
"You guys haven't been to McDonald's lately haven't you?" I questioned them laughing and watching their happiness
"Nope"
"Too much work"
"I can't barely leave that desk
"True"
I frowned at their talk and got curious "is your new boss that bad?" I laughed
"He is never at the office but he sure knows how to make everyone work" Miles commented
"Your ex-hus— I mean Bla— I mean the CEO of our company" Jenny corrected herself a few times trying to be careful with the words she used "just placed a new Italian guy as director of marketing but I seriously doubt that man knows anything about marketing and to make it better the CEO barely goes to work these days. Connor gets home really stressed I think it's something about Europe"
" That director... he is so rude too... although I always talk with him over emails" Miles said
"Seems like it's not going that well then" I supposed
"Since you went away its been total chaos" Miles told me, I didn't know if they were being truthful or just trying to make me feel good.
"Well I am sorry to hear that" I commented
"By the way... we've planned dinner here and you're not eating?" Jenny asked looking at the empty table in front of me, I smiled softly and tried to imagine a good excuse
"I had a big breakfast at my mom's, with all the pastry she is trying out for the bakery I have to help her here and there " I lied
"I am so excited about that too!" Miles said shaking his legs "I'm sure it's going to be a huge success"
"Don't tell that to my mom she is already going crazy" I commented
"Hey, you sure you don't want to spend tomorrow with us? We can go shopping, do a pajama party-" Jenny suggested
"Skincare, watching 13 going on 30, drink some margaritas" Miles smirked trying to persuade me
I shook my head while chuckling at their enthusiasm "I will be fine, I have work to do so I'll be distracted "
"You sure?" Jennifer questioned, I smiled back at her worried face trying to calm her down. Tomorrow wasn't just another day, and they knew that, that's why they were so worried.
Tomorrow was our wedding anniversary.
That's why they want to distract me from a date like that.
"I am cool, don't worry!" I smiled letting them less worried.
"If anything call us"
"Yeah I know" I rolled my eyes in q jokingly way. While they were nagging for me to call them my phone buzzed and a message of Austin appeared.
It's getting dark, I will pick you up from work. Call me when you leave. xx
AI frowned at his sudden text and my friends must have realized immediately who it was
