Amulyas Point of View

*****

I smiled as the cold fresh air of my village brushed against my face, greeting me. It was early morning when we reached outskirts of my village. I couldn't wait to meet my grandparents. It's been almost two years I've met them. Last time I visited them along with dad.

Dad.

My smile faded as soon as I think about him. I don't know what excuse I'm gonna give to my grandparents when they ask me about him. How I'm i supposed to say that he raped me and my husband killed him? My throat tightened at the thought. My chest heaved with uneasiness.

"Ouch"Aditya groaned, making me come back to sense. I looked at him and saw that he had bumped his head against the window again.

"Seriously? This is the sixth time for god's sake"he frowned.

"It's because you're sleeping Aditya. Just look outside and see how beautiful it is"I said.

"Sweetheart...why do they make these roads bumpy?"he asked rubbing his head. I giggled at his face and pecked his lips. He widened his eyes and looked at me.

"It's a village that's why"I said.

"Really?"he asked and I nodded.

"Then i think I have a better place to doze off"he said and kept his head on my shoulder. I smiled and rubbed his cheeks. Aditya fell asleep on my shoulder while I kept staring outside, caressing his cheek in between.

In fifteen minutes we reached the house. My eyes started to water as soon as we entered the compound. Everything is just as same as it was before.

"Vicky- we are here"I called him gently. He got up and looked outside.

I came outside followed by Aditya. He looked around amazed. I took few deep breaths, looking at the house. Aditya's hand slided into mine.

"You're okay Jaan. I'm right here"he clutched my fingers. I smiled at him softly.

"Ready?"

I nodded. We walked inside. I heard some rustles and noises from inside. The whole house was decorated with flowers and lights. I wondered if some function was going on there.

"I can't believe these kids kept talking the whole night and only slept my morning. We have a function going on. Nobody is bothered about anything else but only me"I heard my grandmothers voice.

"Why are you yelling early in the morning?"I heard another voice which I recognised as my grandfathers voice.

My eyes filled with tears and I was already in the verge of crying when Ammama ( grandmom ) walked in. She squinted her eyes as she saw us making me chuckle

"Still need your specs ammama?"I asked. Her face lighted up in surprise.

"Amu....oh my god. Is that really you?"she asked. I walked towards her and took her for a tight hug. I couldn't stop my tears. She hugged me back.

"Yes it's me"I smiled and broke the hug.

"Where have you been? It's been almost two years I've seen you. For a year there was no news of you and neither of your father. You forgot us right?"she asked.

I looked down, not knowing what to say.

"I-Im sorry. It's been so- hard. Everything changed and-"

"Are you really amus grandmother? You look really really young and pretty"Aditya spoke in between, seeing me stammering. That's when her eyes fell on him. She blushed as Aditya said it, which made me laugh.
