Chapter 99.2 ~ Becoming Closer

The door was opened by a guard and two figures appeared from behind it.

Arthur and Verand were in their formal attire. Arthur wore the king's mantle formal attire, while Verand wore his high general's outfit.

Leon stood up and slightly bowed to them.

"Good morning, your majesty, Sir Verand. Please forgive me for my unannounced visit and lack of greetings on this occasion."

"Good morning, Leon. It is very nice to see you. There's nothing to apologize. I'm glad that you come to visit my daughter this morning. She has been missing you a lot, you know? All she talks about is you."

"D-Dear father!"

"It is as his majesty said, Leon. I'm also delighted that Iris here had started taking advice from her mother on how to become a good wife, rather than focusing on her knightly training too much."

"F-F-F-Father?!"

The two men laughed heartily, causing Leon to only smile wryly at them and the two girls blushing madly.

So this is why they were embarrassed to be seen close to me by their family.

Leon chuckled at their cuteness in his mind.

The guards and servants that overheard this were caught by surprise at first. But that surprise was short-lived. After all, the only man worthy of their princess and the captain of her royal guard and is the most likely to become their spouse was the [Dark Hero]. Some have even predicted that they would be wedded soon.

The servants, mostly the castle maids and female attendants have fantasized about their relationship and talked about how romantic their love story was.

While the guards and knights who had their eyes for Iris were crestfallen, but they understood that they're no match for the [Dark Hero], Leon Misteltein.

The guard closed the door and left the king, the royal guard commander, the [Dark Hero], the princess, and her aide to their private conversation.

Arthur and Verand sat on the couch opposite of them while Leon, Aria, and Iris sat on one couch.

"Forgive me if I'm disturbing you three. But there is something I would like to ask Leon."

"What would that be, your majesty?"

"There's no need for formalities, Leon. Just call me Arthur."

Leon wanted to say something, but the king went ahead of him with a small smirk on his face.

"Either that, or you may start calling me father."

"W-Wha-! D-Dear father!"

Aria went red to her ears and raised her voice in a fluster.

She, who was known as an elegant and perfect princess of Arcland, was now just an adolescent girl who's being teased by her father in front of the man she loved.
