John returned to Atlantis only a few hours later. He had another vial of Lucius's potion he had gotten from one of Lucius' wives. It was disturbing how quickly the entire town fell ill, and how absolutely desperate they were for his return.

John stepped across the event horizon and was surprised to find no one guarding the gate room. He could hear happy chatter from up in Elizabeth's office however and a bad feeling went over him as he climbed the stairs. He slowed when he recognized the laughter. As he approached he could see Lucius sitting on Elizabeth's desk while he and Rodney laughed and talked like they were the best of friends.

"-And then she became my fifth wife, and now I have six!" Lucius said and they both laughed again.

McKay shook his head in disbelief, his eyes bright and happy. "You are a scowndral, that's what you are," McKay hesitated when he saw John. "Sheppard come here, you've got to hear this story."

John's has tightened as he entered the room. Without McKay he was going to have to come up with another plan. "I thought you were going to stay away from the nuts," John said in a carefully controlled voice.

"Yes well, I tried to keep to myself, but Lucius here was concerned for me. So he came down, Ronon held me against a wall and Lucius and I had a nice long talk," McKay gushed as though it was the greatest thing to ever happen to him.

"Oh you did," John said with a grimace that may have been his attempt at a smile.

"And let me tell you, we have nothing to worry about with this guy," McKay assured him brightly as he patted Lucius on the back.

John fake laughed with them and looked around the room. Elizabeth was no where to be seen. Neither was Kai, but John didn't want to draw attention to her in case she had managed to escape. "Where's Elizabeth?" John asked.

"Oh she's down making me something to eat," Lucius simpered. "She wanted it to be a surprise. So, Rodney and I were waiting for the team to return, we thought you were them," Lucius said stepping into John's space.

John pulled back with a frown. Whatever Lucius was doing to people it was clear he had no respect for personal space. "Wait, what team?" John asked suddenly.

"Teyla, Ronon, Beckett and Kai. They volunteered to check out M6H-491," McKay filled in helpfully.

"Kai...what?" John dragged off in confusion. He turned to McKay. "I thought I told you to disable the DHD."

"I know, I know," McKay said with a laugh. "I didn't. I sent Kai to instead because I didn't want to take the risk myself, and while she was gone she and Lucius had another talk and after she said she would go with the team."

"She did?" John clarified tightly.

"Yeah," McKay replied brightly. "And I mean, Kai, Ronon and Teyla, they can handle pretty much anything."

"Yeah, but what about Beckett?" John asked.

"Oh he, now he can walk on his hands, did you know that?" Rodney asked. "Yeah, he was showing Lucius just before he left-"

"McKay!" John snapped.

McKay blinked at him, his eyes glazed with false cheer. "Well we don't even know for sure there are even Wraith on the planet. We'll find out soon enough though won't we?"
