Ariella's P. O. V:

We gather in the throne room that morning. A few days have passed since the ordeal with Tristan de Bois's wraith, and Eric had to go home for his Crowned Prince ceremony. I'd gone with him, and he'd returned as Crowned Prince of Domino.

My father had told me he'd received my letter, and was glad I was staying safe, despite the adventures I've been going on with Merlin and my fiancée. I'd even told him about the ordeal with the wraith, and how Merlin had been keeping me safe throughout all of our adventures, Arthur, too, so he needn't worry about me.

I'd also made sure to tell him about Merlin, while leaving out the part that, one, he has magic, and two, that I love a servant. I'd also made sure to visit one of my most favourite horses in our stables, Pegasus, a beautiful white stallion Friesian who'd belonged to my mother, before she was killed. I've been taking care of him ever since, and I miss Pegasus a lot.

Now, we're in the throne room, having just gotten back yesterday, as Merlin's mother, Hunith, stands before Uther, explaining to us why she'd come.

When I first saw Hunith, I'd noticed that she has a nasty, purple bruise around her right, brown eye.

If I ever meet the man who did that to Merlin's mother, I will make sure that they no longer have hands!

"The winters are harsh in Ealdor," Hunith begins, "and there are many children. Some just won't be strong enough to survive. We barely have enough food as it is, and, if Kanen takes our harvest... our children won't live to see another summer. Please! We need your help!"

My heart aches for her and the other people of Ealdor.

With a thoughtful look, Uther says, "Ealdor's in Cendred's kingdom? Your safety is his responsibility."

"We have appealed to our king, but he cares little for the outline regions. You're our only hope!"

After thinking it over for a moment, Uther speaks up, threading his gloves fingers together, his tone firm but sincere, "I have the deepest sympathy for you, and would have this... barbarian wiped off the face of the earth."

"You'll help us?!" Hunith asks hopefully.

"I wish I could," Says Uther.

"Surely we could spare a few men?" Arthur asks, glancing to his father.

Uther responds, "Resources are not the problem."

I ask, "Then what is?"

"Ealdor lies beyond the ridge of Essetir. For an army of Camelot to enter it would be an act of war."

Hunith drops to her knees as she begs desperately, "I know you're a good king, and a caring man. I'm begging you—help us, please!"
