Ariella's P. O. V:

Merlin and I meet up on our way to the dragon's cave, the ravenette carrying the torch down the tunnel. When we enter the cave, we see Kilgarrah is sleeping, curled up on the rock.

Merlin and I gaze at him for a moment, before we both clear our throats loudly. "Ahem!!"

With a groan, the gold scaled dragon unfurls himself and looks at us. He greets, "Well, young witch and warlock, what is it you've come to ask of me?"

Merlin says, "We need your help!"

"Of course you do," Kilgarrah responds.  "But this time... will you heed my words?!"

I say, taking a step forward, "The sorcerer, Tauren. He's plotting to kill the king. He's made an ally of Morgana! We don't know what to do!"

"Do..... nothing!"

Both Merlin and I were stunned by this, our eyes widening.

Merlin demands, "What do you mean?! If we do nothing, then Uther will die!"

"Don't you want Uther dead? It is Uther who persecutes you and your kind, Merlin, Ariella! It is Uther that murders the innocent...!"

"But surely that doesn't make it right to kill him?!" I demand in shock.

Kilgarrah tells us, "Only if Uther dies can magic return to the land! Only if Uther dies will you be free, Merlin, Ariella! Uther's reign is at an end!" He rises to his feet and spreads his wings. "Let Arthur's reign begin! FULFILL YOUR DESTINIES!!"

Kilgarrah takes off toward the high cliffs above us, as Merlin and I shout after him, "WAIT! WHERE DOES IT SAY IN OUR DESTINIES, INCLUDES MURDER?!!"

Kilgarrah pauses as he looks back at us and responds, "FREE THIS LAND FROM TYRANNY, MERLIN, ARIELLA!! FREE US ALL!!"

Merlin and I could only stare at each other in numbed shock, our eyes incredibly wide.

Merlin's P. O. V:

I sit in Gaius's chambers the next morning with my palms pressed together and my knees bouncing up and down from nerves after Ari and I had gone to see the dragon about what to do.

My mind was still reeling, as I'm sure Ari's is, too. I was going to ask Gaius what he thinks of Uther as king, while Ari spent the day with Morgana and Gwen, the two of them keeping their friend company.

I ask Gaius in a hurried tone, "Do you think Uther's a good king?"

Gaius pauses in sorting seeds as he utters, glancing at me, "Sorry?"

I clear my throat as I ask again, "Uther. Do you think he's good for the kingdom?"

"Yes. Yes, I do," Gaius answers as he stares at me, before he goes back to sorting seeds. "In light of recent events, you may find that hard to believe."

"Hard? No. Impossible? Definitely." This causes Gaius to put the seeds down as he turns to me.

"Merlin—"
