F4 Thailand Sequel: Somboon Baep (Perfect)

Who is she to me?

Disclaimer: I have posted two chapters together. Do check the previous one 'Business Meeting' as well, otherwise you might get confused. Also, this chapter is entirely a romantic musical piece of writing, so, it might be a bit boring. You may skip the lyrics if you want but please read the English translation, it is symbolic. <3
Scene 1:
Ren is still busy with the book. Hazel is looking around. Aum is not there in the ward. A nurse walks in and checks Hazel's blood pressure. Suddenly the nurse's phone rings.
*The ringtone:
Minnie, what's on your face?
Umm, maybe beauty
Mirror, mirror, mirror, mirror, mirror on the wall (uh-huh)
Who the freakin' savage? Listen, baby, yes, we are
(*The song is Mirror mirror by Milli Ft. F-Hero and SKZ Changbin)
Nurse feels embarrassed and quickly turns off her phone.
Nurse: (*shyly) Khod tode, sir. I completely forgot to put my phone on silent mode.
Ren: No issues!
(*Nurse walks away, embarrassed)
Hazel is trying to control her laughter. Ren looks at her from over his book. Hazel catches him seeing and raises her left eyebrow funnily. They both burst out into laughter. Hazel continues to smile, her eyes closed. Ren looks at her and once again falls for her simple beauty. Doctor walks outside the cabin, sees Hazel and Ren smiling through the window, and walks away, contented.
(*Aum walks in)
Aum: You alright? (*Pats Hazel's head and hands Ren a packet)
Ren: What is it?
Aum: (*loudly) Food!
Ren: (*points at himself confusedly) For me?
Aum: Hazel can't have solid food right now!
Ren: But I'm not hungry, you can have it yourself.
Aum: I am not giving you any gift it's just that I'm returning you the favour. (*Ren recalls bringing her food during the daytime)
Ren: Thanks! (*He opens the packet and starts eating right away. Aum sits down)
Aum: By the way, isn't this hospital yours?
(*Ren nods while eating)
Aum: Who is there in your family? (*Ren looks at her cynically)
Aum: Shiaa! I'm not being an unwanted intruder into your life. It's just that I don't remember hearing anything about your family from MJ.
Ren: Well, there's nothing much to talk about. I mean my phaw was suffering from paralysis and he expired last year.
Aum: So sorry! And your mom? (*Ren pauses) Uh, never mind. P'Hazel too lost her phaw a few months ago. Her mea passed away a long time ago, I too don't have my mea. (*Hazel sighs, a tear flows down Aum's cheek, she wipes it quickly)
*Awkward silence*
Aum: (*to Hazel) Just now phaw called me. He wanted to come here today but I stopped him. Last night, he was very sick. Auntie Ubon said he coughed a lot. He seemed weaker today. I'm worried. He wants to see you once on video call. Shall I call him now? (*Hazel smiles and nods readily)
*Aum Video calls Phaw
(*He answers and takes the phone to his ear at once)
On call,
(*Aum and Hazel giggle, Ren too smiles from a distance)
Aum: Phaw! It's a video call and we can only see your ear. (*He brings his phone in front of his face confusedly) Now, it's better.
(*He sees Hazel and smiles)
Phaw: Hazel, are you better now, my child?
(*Hazel nods gaily and shows him her bicep, he smiles, Ren smiles as well)
Phaw: Did you both eat something? Is there no one to take care of you both?
Aum: We ate already! And there's no need of anyone to take care of us but....
Ren: (*interferes) Don't worry uncle! I'll stay back tonight.
Phaw: Khop khun na, dear! Please look after my daughters.
Aum: Phaw!
Phaw: I wanted to visit Hazel today but no one took me there. I even told MJ but he did not turn up today.
Ren: Uncle, MJ had to attend an important business party, so he couldn't go.
Phaw: Is it? But tomorrow, I don't know how, but Aum, you have to take me along.
Aum: There's no need of that, phaw. P' will be discharged in a day or two.
Phaw: That's a great news. I always tell you na Hazel, you're my strongest child. The female Hercules. (*Hazel laughs) Okay then, I won't speak much, you both sleep now. Aum you have early morning practice tomorrow, sleep early.
Aum: Eh, I won't go tomorrow. (*Lies) I informed my coach.
Phaw: But
Aum: Mai dai! How can I leave her alone everyday?
Phaw: You do what you deem fit. Then, jer gan! (*See you in Thai)
(*Hazel waves)
Aum: Fan dii na! (*Good night in Thai)
*Disconnects call*
(*Ren is still busy in his book)
Aum: (*to Ren) I've already had a good sleep, you may go and sleep on the couch.
Ren: (*shakes his head, still looking into his book) I don't feel like sleeping now. I am insomniac (*Hazel looks concerned) and I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight as well. (*Shrugs his shoulders) You may sleep comfortably, and can even go for the practice tomorrow. Don't worry I'll be here the whole time. I've taken the responsibility and I'll fulfil it sincerely.
Aum: (*yawns) Okay then, I'll sleep. P' let me help you lie down. (*She adjusts Hazel's bed, covers her with the blanket)
Aum: (*to Ren) Turn off the lights, when you're done. (*Walks to the couch and sleeps)
After some time, Ren is still reading, Aum is fast asleep, Hazel too is sleeping but every now and then she squints her eyes because of the overhead light. Ren notices this and turns off the light and switches on the small table lamp. He continues his reading in the dim light.
It's 2:59 am. Suddenly,a notification pops on Hazel's phone on the charging table table. Ren checks it.
On phone screen*
*Message from Saturn Music Studio*
Miss Hazel Sawængha,
This is the final reminder to you! Hurry, send us another music video for your final selection.

(*Ren finds the phone unlocked)
He turns on the message tab and sees the previous messages of Saturn Music Studio.
4 reminders since last night and a music video sent by Hazel on 7/09/22 ,7 days ago. Ren quickly takes out his bluetooth earphones and connects with Hazel's phone and turns on the video.

In the video, Hazel sings and plays her electric guitar:

A tear flows down his cheek as he watches the video. The angelic voice and the silence of the serene night, with no other sounds but the soft breeze blowing, and the moonlight lighting up the room make Ren's eyes shine. He remembers all the recent encounters with Hazel. As the video ends, he closes his eyes and visualises Mira singing in a café.

Mira stops and looks at Ren affectionately. Ren suddenly opens eyes, rubs them.
Ren: (*thinks) No, Ren! You can't go back to Mira. She's already married and a mother of a child. She was your past, this is your present!
He then looks at Hazel. The moonlight from the window is lighting up her face. He removes the strand of hair from her face and sits watching her. He takes out his old drawing book which he hadn't opened for years, and opens a page and draws Hazel.
