A/N - This chapter is based on the song 'Get Out' by CHVRCHES. I hope you all enjoy it.

You couldn't help but worry about Wanda at all times. Of course, you worried, she was your girlfriend and you desperately wanted her to be at ease, but at the moment she seemed to be so far from happy that it played on your mind constantly.

This evening she had wandered off from the party you were attending, leaving you making awkward conversation with her colleagues. It was all the basics; where are you from? What do you do? How did you meet Wanda? God it was tedious, but you had plastered on a smile and politely gone about answering their queries for as long as you could manage.

"Excuse me for a moment," you had uttered, interrupting the next flow of questions before they could be spoken. You offered up your most sweet smile before dipping out of the conversation and making a beeline for the doors to the balcony. Some fresh air should be enough to calm your nerves before you went searching for your girlfriend.

As soon as the door shut behind you, you spotted her, hiding out in the exact same spot you had intended to hide in.

"So this is where you disappeared to," you started, drawing her attention in your direction. The smile she gave you was half-assed, and not at all convincing, and you allowed your own smile to fade completely. "Not enjoying the party?" you murmured, crossing the space between you and tucking yourself into her side, attempting to shelter from the cool wind.

"Got overwhelmed by it all," she uttered, reaching down to take your hand in hers and giving it a light squeeze. "Needed a moment."

You nodded, looking out over the Manhattan skyline. In all honesty, everything about New York was overwhelming, and you could completely understand why it could all be a little too much for Wanda. "We should get out of here," you started, your voice barely above a whisper as you pulled your bottom lip in between your teeth, considering your own plan.

"Yeah? You wanna pick up a pizza on the way home?"

You snorted slightly, glancing over at her and meeting her eyes. "As lovely as that sounds right now, it isn't what I meant," you told her softly, drawing her hand up to your lips and breathing on the cold digits to warm them. "I was thinking more of getting out of New York," you added.

"What do you mean?"

You shrugged slightly. "I think this place is bad for us," you murmured, returning your eyes to the skyline for just a moment before releasing a soft sigh. "It's not a happy place anymore," you added.

Wanda looked a little confused still, pulling you even closer to her. "Where would we go? This is our home," she started, her brow furrowed into a painfully tight expression.

"Anywhere, I guess," you muttered. "We could buy a car, pack up our stuff and just go wherever we want."

You paused for a second, silently waiting for a response. "We'd be free," Wanda uttered, watching as a small smile pulled at your lips. You nodded, your fingers linking firmly with hers. "Yeah, we should get out."

You had been completely enthusiastic about leaving Manhattan until the day you were actually supposed to leave. The car was packed, and your tenancy on your flat was about to fall through, and suddenly your nerves kicked in.

"Are you ready?" You glanced up at Wanda, seeing the way she was beaming down at you, and the nerves shoved themselves down into the pit of your stomach as you mustered up your own smile. You nodded, reaching out for her to help you to your feet. Her smile faded slightly once you were standing looking at her, your hands clasped together. "Are we making a mistake?"

You gave a short shrug. "I don't know," you uttered softly, releasing her hands to pull her into a tight hug. "But if we are, there is no one else I would rather make mistakes with," you told her, pressing a chaste kiss to her lips before releasing her. "We should go now if we don't want to hit a ton of traffic leaving Manhattan," you added softly, pulling back to see the sweet smile that had returned to her face.

She nodded, linking her fingers with yours and pulling you out of your old flat.

*Time Skip*

You had been on the road for a month, and in all honesty, you had never seen Wanda as happy as she was currently. It was rare that she wasn't smiling, or laughing, and God, she was even singing along to the music you would blare through the speakers of your car. It was one of the most incredible transformations you had ever seen.

She was humming along softly now, her gaze focused out of the window, watching the fields roll by as you drove. You felt your heart tighten at the sight. Of course, you had known before leaving New York that you loved Wanda. You'd been together for years and you were committed to one another. But it felt different now. You had never been so in love, and it seemed to make everything better. The sky looked bluer, and the grass looked greener, and the future finally looked happy.

"The map says there's a little town a few miles south of here," you started softly, drawing Wanda's attention back into the car, her smile one of the sweetest sights you had ever seen. "Do you think we should stop for a little bit?"

"Do we need gas?" she asked, leaning towards you to look at the gauge on the dashboard.

"No," you started softly, shaking your head. "But I was looking it up last night and they have a town hall."

Wanda's brow was furrowed in confusion when you glanced up at her. "Don't all towns have town halls?"

You shrugged slightly, swallowing around the lump in your throat and keeping your eyes focused on the road ahead. "I guess so, but I was just thinking that maybe we could visit this one and-" you paused for a second, "-and, maybe we could get married." You kept your hands fixed tightly on the steering wheel as you waited for some sort of answer, the anxiety bubbling up in your stomach.

"That sounds perfect," she uttered, her hand coming to rest on your knee lightly.

You glanced up at her for a second, finding her smiling down at you, a toothy grin so happy that you felt your heart doing somersaults in your chest. "I love you," you told her softly, taking one hand off of the wheel to place it on top of hers.

"I love you more."

A small snort escaped you as you shook your head. "Not possible," you murmured.

"Is too." You glanced up at her again, just a momentary look of frustration that left her giggling, leaning in to press a kiss to the side of your head. "Can't wait to be your wife," she uttered, pulling back and resting with her back against the car door, her focus now fully on you as you continued to drive.
