Ever since the whole incident at Ludo's castle, Aster had been...different. He began to see that nothing was what he expected.

He thought going to Earth would be great! That they'd always win against the monsters. That they were the good guys.

But instead, they nearly died because Toffee. Aster could see just how serious all of this was. It wasn't fun and games anymore.

And he didn't want this kind of life for Marco...

Marco never really signed up for this. He never signed up to have his family put in danger just because they know Aster.

He moved from his bed to the balcony and looked down at the kingdom. The place he'd one day have to rule...

"Everybody told me magic stuff's dangerous...guess I didn't believe it. Until now, you've always been apprehensive. And now you're really freaking out, what do I do? I don't want that for you...

He pulled his phone out (which Marco paid for) to look at pictures of himself and Marco.

"Everybody tells me life is precious, in the great wide universe. And that means you, and I have to protect you, what if somehow you get hurt? What do I do? I don't want that for you...

It had been a week since Aster had visited Earth which was the longest he'd gone since visiting. Marco was growing worried...

And when he finally knocked on the door, Marco rushed to open it. He smiled

"Hey! I was getting worried. What happened?" - M

"Nothing, I just...came to say goodbye." - A

He had a grim expression.

"Goodbye?" - M

He looked confused.

"Where are you going?" - M

"I'm gonna stay on Mewni, full time..." - A

"What? Why? Did I do something?" - M

"No! It's...it's not safe for you. I never should've let you get involved. This isn't your fight." - A

"Yes, it is! Your my friend. Whatever comes our way, we face it together. That's what friends do." - M

He said with determination.

"But you're human! Your not like me. What happens if you get hurt? What am I supposed to tell your family?" - A

"I'm not some defenseless kid! I can handle myself. You've seen it." - M

"But that was before! Things are more serious now. We barely survived last time. We might not be so lucky next time. I won't let your risk your life again." - A

Both were near tears at this point.

"It's my life! And I want to spend it protecting my family, and helping you. Before you showed up, I felt like I was just another face in the crowd. I was worried about going to the dentists and girls, and now I'm fighting monsters and exploring the universe with you! You changed me, Aster. You are the most fun I've ever had. I'm not letting that go. So please, don't push me way?" - M

Aster was now fully crying as he pulled Marco in for a hug.

"Promise you won't get yourself killed?" - A

"Only if you do the same." - M

"Promise." - A

"Promise." - M

The two then began to laugh a bit in each other's embrace.

Aster couldn't guarantee Marco's safety as he is now. But he could make him stronger. He could make himself stronger. And he would.
