Aster was currently having a meeting his his mother. She had a little puppet stage set up so that a little doll version of her younger self could dance while a bard played his guitar and sang.

"Perfect princess Moon, she's great in every way! Everything she says and does is absolutely right! Her hair is silky soft, her favorite colors pink! She flosses every day and she never needs to sleep! The perfect princess Moon! She's nice in every way! Always in a sunny mood even on a cloud day! Her sugar coated heart of gold will make everything okay! She plays with puppies and kisses kitty-cats! She eats her veggies and smells like lavender! Perfect princess Moon! She's a fan of smiles! Perfect princess Moon will be queen!" - Bard

He bowed once he was done, and Moon began to clap. Aster clapped as well, but he didn't show a whole lot of enthusiasm for the song.

"That was...interesting...will mine sound like that?" - A

"Each ballad is unique to its queen, or in your case, king. It's a tradition as old as the kingdom itself. And it will serve as your official introduction as future king to the people of Mewni!" - Moon

"Shouldn't a song about me be about...well, me? Who I am outside of just being an heir?" - A

He asked with some concern.

"Your ballad can be about whatever you want, and sound however you like. As long as it's appropriate! And there's no backing out of this. Preparations for Song Day are already underway." - Moon

She said while signing something a servant brought over.

"And the new official Songstrel is ready to meet you on Earth as we speak. And remember! The people of Mewni like their ballads to be light and fluffy." - Moon

"That's not Solaria did..." - A

"That was then, this is now. Light and fluffy." - Moon

She said as Aster sighed and nodded

"I'll try to stick to your guidelines..." - A

He said. He'd been questioning their family traditions for a quite a while now. And while Song Day wasn't a celebration of violence, it was still a chance for him to show the people who he really was. A fighter, an inventor, a friend, a mentor, a student, etc.

He eventually returned to Earth after a bit more talking with his mom. He arrived in Marco's apartment and sat on the couch, melting into it like a couch potato. Marco came out from the kitchen and saw him, and looked surprised.

"What happened?" - M

He asked while sitting next to him.

"Royal responsibilities. A Sonstrel is supposed to come here and write a song about me for my people." - A

"Is that bad?" - M

"No, the problem is what the song should be about. My mom wants it to be some light puff piece about how I'm perfect and love puppies. But I'm more than that! And if I show them who I really am, I either become the greatest king that ever lived, or my mom grounds me and my people hate me forever!" - A

He said while throwing a pillow over his own face.

"That's an exaggeration, but you should do what feels right." - M

"Which is?" - A

He turned so he could look at Marco, who shrugged.

"The right thing is different for everyone. I can't tell you what it is." - M

"That's...surprisingly wise. Thanks." - A

He said, a little comforted. A little while later, someone rang the doorbell. Aster got up and answered it, seeing a Mewman man with orange hair, dressed like a bard.

"You must be the Songstrel. I'm Aste-" - A

"Greetings, Prince Aster! I am Ruberiot! At your service! And may I just say, though we have much to do, how much of a pleasure it is to meet you!" - R

He said the last part

"I...appreciate your enthusiasm. And you're definitely a talented singer." - A

He said before welcoming him inside.

"What do we do first?" - A

He asked as Ruberiot looked around curiously at the house. There wasn't exactly a lot of modern houses on Mewni...

"Well, it shouldn't take too long. I just need to get to know the real you!" - R

He said while pulling out a notepad and pencil. Aster felt relieved that it would be simple. He was just worried about the aftermath...

'Maybe I could tweak the lyrics to be more friendly?' - A

He thought to himself before speaking.

"Well, telling you about all my adventures could take hours, which is why I wrote...this!" - A

He said while opening a portal to his bedroom and pulling out a big book. He gave it to Ruberiot, who began to look through it, seeing descriptions of his adventures and drawings of things he'd seen.

"It's the story of everything that's happened since I got the wand!" - A

"How fascinating...this will be a big help!" - Ruberiot

He said with a smile as he flipped through the pages before starting to read from the beginning.

'That should keep him busy for a while...and quiet.' - A

He said, not wanting Ruberiot's music abilities to disrupt Marco's TV time. Aster sat on the couch and watched with him, the two happily looking at the penguins. Once he was done, about six hours later, he and Aster went to Aster's room back on Mewni.

"Wow! You've given me so much to work with. I have some great ideas that I'd like your opinion on." - R

He said while pulling out his notepad.

"Oh, really? Let's see it." - A

He said as he took the notepad and began to read some of the song lyrics. His smile gradually faded as he read on and on.

"Yeah, these are uh, great..." - A

"But...?" - R

"They just...don't sound like me. I don't want to be just another Ballad. I want to be memorable!" - A

He said, which seemed to pleasantry surprise Ruberiot.

"I-I totally understand! The Songstrels before me...they were hacks, respectfully. But I wanted to write a real song, about a real person! Mewmans should know who they're future leader is!" - R

He said with a passion that Aster admired.

"I think you and I are going to be good friends." - A
