Chapter 34- Back to the Barn

Blare's Pov

Upon arriving back home Peridot as promised was now relaying her information. "Ahm as it seems I have no other options. I have conceded to reveal some important information to you Crystal Gems." Peridot said snapping her fingers. 

Steven walked up wearing a box with pictures? "This is the Earth at the very center of the planets core lies the cluster. Rotate." Peridot explained repeatedly smacking the box. "This is the cluster a massive artificial fusion composed of millions of gem shards. It has laid dormant for thousands of years in this planet's crust. When this gem activates and takes its form the result will be catastrophic. Now." Peridot commanded slapping the box.

On que Steven lightly shock the box, before a sock puppet burst from it. The others gasped but I couldn't help but to laugh at Steven's dramatics. "What is that?" Peridot asked looking at the sock monster. "It's the cluster." Steven answered. 

"It does not look like that, but it is real an it can activate at any moment!" Peridot yelled. "What a cluster." Amethyst whispered in awe. "That abomination must be stopped." Garnet said. I cringed at her harsh tone. "But how we'll need to build some type of machine to take us to the center of the Earth. It'll have to be-" "Hey! I wasn't finished speaking." Peridot interrupted before repeating what Pearl said.

"Well we mustn't waste time. We need to start finding parts for this machine immediately." Pearl added. "Yes obviously, we'll start by dismantling all devices inside this dwelling." Peridot said. "Hold up." I said but she already began tearing things up. 

She ran upstairs but I quickly jumped in front of her katana drawn. "Break one more thing in this house and you'll wish we left you in a bubble." I threatened. She immediately stepped back eyes focused on the blade centimeters from her face. "I have a better idea that doesn't involve destroying the house." Steven interjected. 

"Classic Steven." I heard Amethyst say before Steven told us his plan.

Wow I guess when Greg decided to stay here he really hit close to home. We were currently at a barn that belonged to Greg's family. It was a nice very serene. "Maybe we can have a picnic here or just come and hangout. I'm sure there are a ton of things we can do with this open space." I told Garnet. 

"Sounds like fun." Garnet agreed smiling at me. "It's so beautiful here. I can tell this is going to be a great experience. Maybe we can even relax and finally have a little time to ourselves." I suggested taking a seat in the grass. "That would be nice. We never really got to have that picnic you prepared last time, but I think I'll be the one planning our time together." She said leaning closer to my face. 

I could feel the heat rise to my cheeks. She was an inch away from me. I felt nervous but excited at the same time. I reached up taking her visor off revealing her magnificent eyes. Their vibrant color reminding me of the two gems I fell in love with alongside Garnet. I couldn't help but to smile. 

"I don't know how I've made it this far without you." I whispered. "Well-"I didn't fight  a thousand year war for this planets independence to take orders from the likes of you!" I closed my eyes feeling irritation boil within me. This better be important. 

Garnet laughed putting her visor back on and standing to her feet. She offered me her hand which I gladly took. "Maybe we can continue later." I suggested. She smiled at me nodding in agreement, "That would be nice."  We walked back to the barn the Amethyst  joining us at some point.

When we arrived at the barn the sounds of tools filled our ears. "Yo Steven how are the wonder nerds doing-" Amethyst stopped looking at the pair work separately on some type of machine. "What are they doing?" I asked. "Yeah what's going on are they building the drill?" Amethyst asked.
