day 1

"(Y/n)! Wait!"

Shortly after (Y/n) had left the dining room and was on her way back to the attic, Tim caught up to her.

She turned to see him and he slowed to a halt ahead of her.

He fished through his pocket to pull out a piece of paper that had been folded several times and held it out to her.

(Y/n) glanced between him and the paper and then tentatively took it from his hands. "Thank you." She unfolded the paper and saw a map slightly different from the one he'd given her to find Eli.

"The reason I was late to dinner was because I was correcting the map, I know you had trouble using the one I made before." He explained and grinned proudly as he saw (Y/n)'s face light up with clarity.

"This is so helpful!" She exclaimed happily. "Thanks again for this."

"It's no problem." Tim shrugged, pleased that he was overturning (Y/n). She, Bella and Eli were the only people not to vote for him so it was important to get close to those three. He didn't much care for Eli but being one down wasn't a massive loss. "How are you handling everything?"

"It's definitely a shock to the system but-" she shrugged helplessly. "What am I going to do about it?"

"Right, if you're ever feeling... well, if you need someone to talk to then I'm always here." He put a hand on her shoulder and squeezed it lightly.

"I appreciate it, although I think there are others who could use that reassurance more than I could." (Y/n) smiled at him softly and Tim's chest tightened, his breath almost becoming caught in his throat. Who knows why such a simple gesture such as a smile from someone who was practically a total stranger had such an effect on him.

"You shouldn't have to put on a brave face for the sake of the others. I want to try and talk to all of you before tomorrow and get a scope on how you're all doing. You're my last stop" He continued to half massage her shoulder as a form of comfort but (Y/n) took a steady step back when the action became a bit too much.

"That's good of you." She innocently moved some hair from her face. "But you shouldn't burden yourself, it's only our first day."

"I was elected leader so I should act like it." Tim retracted his hand and put it in his pocket. "Though you didn't vote for me, did you?" He cocked his had to the side and tried to seem casual in his questioning though in his mind it was anything but.

"I guess I had met Bella before you so I felt more of an attachment. No hard feelings." (Y/n) answered with equal casualness but her's was actually genuine.

"Not at all." Tim chuckled.

But there were hard feelings. He needed the popularity so he could get the control he desired, the control he needed. Tim wasn't at all torn up over ending up here, he subconsciously ignored the very real danger they were all in and instead revelled in the fact that in this place he was in charge. They would live by his rules. He'd be like a king.

But now his heart rate was increasing around this random woman. That was no matter. It was just something else he needed control over.
