day 69

"I'm sorry."

(Y/n) looked up from her hand of cards to Hana in confusion, they were midway through a game of hearts so she wasn't really expecting this sudden apology without any prompt.

"What for?"

"For yesterday."

(Y/n) eyes flicked down. Yesterday had certainly been... Dramatic, Hana's split lip and the various other injuries acquired by other players was enough evidence of that. (Y/n) didn't really know the true fallout until she was taken down to the kitchen for breakfast that morning by Eli - who was limping for that matter - and saw that the dining room had been totally trashed.

As Hana and (Y/n) played cards Tim and Dottie were working on putting the living room back together since they were the most unscathed since Tim had to stay with (Y/n) in her room and Dottie made good use of her knife. But luckily no one was sporting any major injuries, the worst outcome had been the knife that got jabbed into Owen's non-dominant arm. It was mostly just petty brawling.

"Don't worry about it." (Y/n) didn't much care if they fought, in a way it was better for her to have them divided. So long as they weren't killing each other in front of her then she couldn't care less about what they did in their free time.

Hana looked at (Y/n) for a little longer while she was still looking down at her cards. Hana wanted to ask (Y/n) about her relationship to the others and if she ever felt anything for any of them, Dottie in particular. Dottie was the only one who managed to kiss (Y/n) after she knew what was going on, that had to mean something.

"Are you gonna play?"

"Oh." Hana only then realised that she had failed to take her turn. She placed a card down mindlessly and (Y/n) beat her out with her next card.

"My hand." (Y/n) claimed and pulled the cards towards her.

Hana didn't like how quickly (Y/n) had got off their previous topic, she wanted to talk this through and really get a grasp on how (Y/n) felt about this. At first it was obvious that (Y/n) despised what was happening but she'd clamped down now- Hana didn't know if that meant she was actually happier or if she was just better at hiding her emotions. She placed her cards down.

"Why did you try to kill yourself?"

(Y/n) almost choked on her slaiva at the very crude wording. "What?"

"A few days ago... Is it about Max?"

The (h/c) haired woman cringed. "It wasn't one specific thing, it was everything on top of all the stuff I struggled with before. I needed a way out and it seemed like the only way."

Hana's eyes narrowed. "We'll get out of here. I'm sure we will, (Y/n)."

(Y/n) sighed. "Even if we do, are all of you going to actually leave me alone?"

"..."

"That's what I thought." (Y/n) said under her breath.

"No, (Y/n), that's not-" Hana paused. "I'll get you away from them, I won't lock you up. You can be free as long as you stay with me."
