day 44

A sigh of relief left Max once he'd reached his room. He was still feeling anxious about what Owen had said.

He really didn't want to tell (Y/n) to forgive Owen but it seemed as though he didn't have much of a choice for the time being. Max was trying to think of a way to stop all of this contortion of the truth but he had no proof of anything.

Every argument would come down to one person's word again the other and while Max believed that (Y/n) would defend him, he couldn't say the same for everyone else. And what happens after that? He'd probably suffer a similar fate to Bella.

He just wanted to get out of there. He needed to be back at home and away from this mess.

"Come on!"

"No, I need to study." Max said dismissively, keeping his eyes locked on the paper he was writing. "We're in our senior year of high school, Otis, there will be plenty of time to go clubbing AFTER we graduate."

Otis rolled his eyes. "I got us fake IDs! It's this new gay club and-"

"Then I'm definitely not going."

"What? There will be tons of hot guys there!" Otis crouched beside Max and took his hand away from his keyboard. "Your parents are out, they'll never need to know and if you hate it then we never have to go again."

Max deadpanned, he had to finish this paper and only had a few days to do it on top of that he'd be slated by his parents if they found out about him sneaking out to a club. Particularly a gay club. He sighed a shut his laptop. "Fuck it."

"Yes! Let's go!"

The two eighteen year olds were lucky to get in with their pretty unconvincing fake IDs, it seemed like the bouncer took pity on them and since it was the club's public opening it was good press to have a full dance floor.

Otis's eyes lit up with awe when they walked in. Otis and Max had been best friends for the past two years with Max transferring to their high school at that start of the junior year.

Despite their close friendship Otis had always been more outgoing than his counterpart and often had to drag him along to things of this nature.

"You can't leave me, okay??" Max said sternly as they made their way to the dancefloor.

"No worries, I'm right here. When have I ever left you?" Otis said reassuringly.

"What about when we went to that festival in the middle of a desert? Or when we went to your brother's metal band's concert? Or when you told me there was a really exclusive party in the woods and it was a cult gathering!!"

"I will take responsibility for that last one but in my defence I did not know there was going to be a goat sacrifice." They paused and Otis put his hands on Max's shoulder's. "You're my best friend and I promise that I will never ever- Oh my God! Who is that?!"

Before Max could even ask who Otis was talking about he'd already trekked into the crowd, presumably to seek out whatever guy he'd landed his sights on. Max rolled his eyes, he had expected something like this to happen.
