day 57

(Y/n) was in a daze as she helped unpack the package given to them that morning. She was carrying some rice to the kitchen but her mind was a million miles away.

Angelo's death seemed like it happened years ago, it was sobering to think that it only less than a month ago that they lost him. Time in this house seemed to move slower, days felt like entire lifetimes.

(Y/n) wondered how long she could keep up this act for, at the end of the day she trusted Max and she didn't trust the others. She had been blinded by her starvation for tenderness of any kind to notice how their actions weren't normal.

It sucked to think that she was being used and manipulated but she had Max and was sure that if she could get another one on one with the Gamemaster then they could get one step closer to getting off this island.

When she got back to the living room she saw Tim frowning down at the box. He pulled out a smaller box. "More individual boxes." He muttered.

(Y/n) tried not to make eye contact and initiate conversation with anyone as she went to sit next to Max.

Max saw how on edge she seemed and turned to her. "Are you-"

He was cut short by the bell and a message up on the screen.

There is a box in there for everyone. Gifts may not be shared.

Tim drew in some air and then faced the rest of the group. "I suppose we should open these, be sure not to tell anyone what you have."

Everyone went over to pick the box with their own name written on the top. They felt oddly light, lighter than they had been before. Dottie even went so far to shake her's only to hear nothing.

(Y/n) pondered if they would all be empty like her's had been last time. She would never know.

Only the Gamemaster knew what was in every box and (Y/n) was almost correct to assume they were all empty. In truth, all but one were empty. Last time, (Y/n) had been the only player not to get anything and this time she was the only one to get something.

(Y/n) sat on her bed and placed the box in her lap. This one wasn't locked so she could slowly remove the top on its own.

She peered inside carelessly, she was expecting it to either have nothing or some grim nostalgia inside. But instead there was just a plain silver disk.

(Y/n) knitted her brows and pulled the disk out, she flipped it over to check for any writing that she'd missed but it was totally blank. As expected, a tone from the bell forced (Y/n)'s eyes to switch to the screen.

I'm helping you. Play it.

She wasn't sure if she believed that the Gamemaster actually had her best interests at heart but she supposed the only way to find out would be to actually play it. It was probably some video of her as a kid that was meant to spook her or something.

(Y/n) put the lid back in the box and walked up to where the disk insert was on the side of the screen, she pushed the disk in and stepped back with folded arms. The screen went dark as the message disappeared.
