day 80

The basement door still refused to open.

Everyday (Y/n) would go down there, it was never very long before someone would whisk her away to do something or other but (Y/n) always found time to try the door. She didn't know why she cared so much, Bella was dead without a doubt.

Maybe it was just her empathetic reasoning for wanting to give Bella some dignity in her death, something she'd been deprived of for the last weeks of her life.

This was quite obviously what (Y/n) struggled with most when it came to her decision to give up on fighting them. It was the death they'd caused.

Even if Bella wasn't as directly killed by them as Max and Angelo, she was still a victim of their terror. Hana was told to kill Bella and Bella was supposed to be dead, the truth of the matter was that if Bella hadn't been locked in they would've got rid of her anyway.

It didn't take much for (Y/n) to be appeased by them in the state she was in. A simple apology would probably suffice for the time being. But none of them wanted to apologize, becuase none of them were sorry... Except maybe Hana.

"What are you thinking about?" She was very soft-spoken when talking to (Y/n).

"I... Feel so much regret."

Alarms went off in Hana's head, was (Y/n) already going against her promises of happiness? "Regret about us?" Hana tried to hide her concern as she asked.

"Not that..." (Y/n) said vaguely, it was too soon and too complex to say whether she regretted that or not. "I regret all this death."

"You shouldn't listen to the others." Hana said while placing a caring hand on (Y/n)'s shoulder. "They'll say to no end that all of it was for you but it wasn't your fault."

Speaking to Hana was like a breath of fresh air. Sure, she wasn't perfect, was still an objectively bad person and sometimes failed to act on her morals, however she was still the most normal. For all her quirks and oddities that made her seem to be the most alien at first glance she was the only one of (Y/n)'s lovers that was really trying to do more than just indulge a fantasy.

Hana was empathetic in a way the other could never be. Even if she'd never truly understand (Y/n)'s thoughts of suicide, and she was still clinging to her abusive mother. It was the death thing that Hana actually understood.

Things in her mind were black and white- murder was wrong, no exceptions. Hana didn't make excuses for herself, even if it was for (Y/n) it was still wrong.

The other players had long caught onto this particular 'anti-murder' rhetoric that Hana and (Y/n) both shared in. It didn't exactly scare them but they were definitely on alert, it made it very possible that (Y/n) already did or would favor Hana over everyone else.

"It's just hard not to blame myself... Especially for Max."

"Max really cared for you. He would never blame you." Hana assured her.

"Why didn't you stop them?"

"I tried... I told them that it would only upset you. But you forgive me now?"
