day 12

It had been a couple of days since the genesis of Eli and Dottie's public relationship. It had proved to be completely ineffective for both of their goals. (Y/n) was more confused than jealous which really stumped Dottie, and Eli still had strong feelings for (Y/n) that weren't even close to tiding over.

They still kept up the charade, hoping that they'd make some progress but if anything it was making things worse. Eli's love for (Y/n) was getting more powerful and overwhelming, constantly being around Dottie also opened his eyes to the true extent of her desire.

It angered him though he wouldn't let on to liking (Y/n) in the slightest. 'I can't blame Dottie for falling for her... I mean, it's HER.'

His fast growing hatred for Dottie translated to them hardly touching each other unless it was for the sake of performance, which Dottie definitely didn't mind at all.

Eli was presently sitting outside the kitchen, listening to the conversation that was taking place within. He knew it was (Y/n) in there, he could pick out her melodic voice from anywhere. He honestly didn't know what the purpose of this was, sitting next to the door and hugging his knees to his chest as he listened intently to a conversation that didn't involve him.

(Y/n), from within the kitchen, was helping Owen prepare some food for lunch in advance. It was still the morning but he needed to make a marinade that the vegetables had to sit in for a few hours and (Y/n) offered to help.

"The wave was massive, like twenty feet tall and I had all my friends watching me from the beach and all I could think about was how badly I was gonna bomb this." Owen told an anecdote about his life before his abduction.

"Let me guess, you somehow prevailed and surfed the wave?" (Y/n) assumed with a smile.

"I wish, I wiped out within seconds while screaming bloody murder and got a mouthful of saltwater." He chuckled slightly at the memory.

"Oh, that's gross." She laughed, the sound of it brought a small blush onto his face and the pupils of his brown irises dilated.

"It was, that was the last time I went out with waves that big. I'm just glad the sea here is pretty calm." He looked at (Y/n) with a lovestruck gaze as he spoke, he dreamt of being out on the water with her. It was a real pity that she seemed to hate it.

"It's not like there are any surfboards here anyway so I think you're good." (Y/n) scraped all the vegetables she had it off of the chopping board and into the marinade Owen had made.

"It would be so good if there was." He mused, walking over to the tray of uncooked vegetables and giving it a quick stir in the liquid.

"It's not like this is a pleasure resort."

"Well, it hasn't been terrible. We've got food, a roof over our heads and I like most of you guys, though you're my favorite." At the last part Owen came a bit closer to (Y/n), he stood behind her essentially trapping her between him and the counter.

(Y/n) was too flustered to really notice the oppressive position she was in. She wasn't used to receiving this kind of attention and it made her turn bright red. "W-wow, that's very nice of you to say." (Y/n) cringed at her her stuttering.
