When I woke up the next morning I woke up to an empty bed and the smell of food. I sat up and rubbed my eyes and stretched. I slid out of bed and made my way to the conjoined bathroom and did my morning routine. I was grateful that there was an extra unopened toothbrush in there so I could brush my teeth.
As I was doing that the realization finally hit me. I slept in Ba Weis room, in his bed, and not only that I fell asleep in his arms. I almost choked on the toothpaste in my mouth. I quickly got finished with that and washed my face. I stared into the mirror a few minutes after and just looked at myself. I ran my hands though my hair a few times and sighed.
"Hopefully today isn't as much of hell as yesterday was," I said aloud.
I walked out of the bathroom and made my way out of the room. As I made my way to the kitchen the sound of voices hit my ears. As the kitchen came into view my eyes immediately met with Kang Wu. Why the hell is he here?
"Oh this is who you said spent the night," Kang Wu said as he looked behind the island.
I followed his gaze to see Ba Wei at the stove cooking something. He didn't look back nor did he say anything so neither did I. As I approached the island I didn't want to sit by Kang Wu but it just so happened that I wouldn't have a choice.
Letting out a internal sigh I took a seat beside the man and just stared a Ba Wei. The room was silent except for the frying sound of what ever Ba Wei was cooking. I wasn't looking at the man beside me but I knew for a fact that he was looking at me. I glanced over at him and our eyes immediately met. I shifted them and just went back to staring at the back of Ba Wei.
"So..."
"So what?"
"So are the two of you fucking or what," Kang Wu blurted out?
I almost choked on my own spit. I would've thought Ba Wei would have some type of reaction but he just continued cooking. I was about to say something when I heard a small chuckle come from Ba Wei. I raised an eyebrow but didn't say anything. I watched as he plated what looked to be egg fried rice. To my surprise it looked to be only one plate. I was about to ask about it when he sat it down in front of me with chopsticks.
"How'd you sleep?"
I picked up the chopsticks, "good."
A smile spread across his face, "I'm glad."
"You never answered my question," Kang Wu said,
"Why do you need to know?"
Ba Wei seemed a bit annoyed when he said that and honestly couldn't blame him. Even I was getting a bit irritated by that question and he had only asked it once.
"I just want to know, but it's not like I'm the only one wondering. Father is wondering about it also."
"Still haven't told me why you need or want to know."
Kang Wu glanced at me, "it's just it's been a lot of talking. If you know what I mean."
I wanted so bad to ask what he meant by that but I kept my mouth shut and just ate. May I add that the rice is delicious. The room fell into silence and the two of them just stared at each other. It was almost like they were talking but through their eyes.
"Call father up here," Ba Wei said suddenly.
"Huh," me and Kang Wu said in unison?
"Go get him."
Kang Wu got up from the island and made his way to the door and left without another word. Confused I scratched the back of my neck and couldn't help but ask.
"Why is your father about to come up here? Also why was Kang Wu in here so early?"
A chuckle left his lips, "my fathers wondering why I keep bringing you around so I'm gonna tell him why. Also I didn't let the bastard in he just knows the numbers to the key pad."
I wish I could've said that I cared about how Kang Wu got in but the first part of what he said caught my attention way more.
"What exactly are you going to tell him?"
In truth I didn't care what he would say. If he would've answered Kang Wu I wouldn't have batted an eyelash. I was just more shocked on how he just asked that question with no embarrassment, but then again the guy is close to a gang boss. On that note why exactly did he call Ba Weis father dad also?
I pulled out of my thought by Ba Wei walking around the island and stopped right next to me. He bent down and planted a kiss on my lips.
"You'll see."
Just as he straighten up the door opened. I watched as Kang Wu entered and followed him was non other than Ba Weis father. The man was very handsome much like his son actually, and equally tall. I would say that if anything Ba Wei got most of his looks from his dad. He was dressed in a suit and his hair was slicked back. I couldn't help but wonder if this is how he usually dressed.
"Kang Wu said you wanted to see me."
"Morning to you too father," Ba Wei said. "Yeah I did."
"What is it you wish to discuss and are you sure you want to discuss it around the boy?" Upon hearing that I raised an eyebrow and our eyes met. I watched as a smile spread across that mans face, "so we meet again."
"I think it's best if he's here since I called you up here regarding something to do with him."
"Go on then."
"I don't request much from you father for obvious reasons but regarding him," he looked down at me, "just as you oversee me do the same with him."
I watched as Ba Weis father glanced between the two of us and a small smile tugged at his lips. In truth I was confused on what exactly Ba Wei had just said. I mean I could come to the conclusion that he just told him father in some way that our relationship was much more than platonic but that's about it.
The room was silent and I took the time to look over at Kang Wu. To my surprise he seemed a bit surprised. What the fuck did Ba Wei just request?
After what seemed like forever his father finally spoke, "if that is what you request of me, consider it done." I watched as he made his way back to the door and just as he was about to leave he stopped and looked back directly at me. "Welcome to the family."
