Chapter 78 - The Trials of Mr. & Mrs. Malfoy

We were waiting for the judge to arrive. Mrs. Malfoy was already sitting on the chair. Draco and his father were sitting in the audience. Mrs. Malfoy looked really calm, well, because she didn't do much, so she knew that she was going to win.

The judge arrived and banged the gavel three times.

"Trial as of 23rd June into the crimes committed by Narcissa Malfoy. Interrogators – Jack Moore, Head of the Department of Mysteries" he said looking at the paper in his hand. This time there was no prosecutor as her case was straightforward.

"The charges against the accused are as follows – being a Death Eater and following his doing in the Battle of the Department of Mysteries and Battle of Hogwarts" he said and looked at Narcissa.

"Do you deny these charges?" he asked and she looked at me. I nodded and she replied, "No, Your Honor"

"Proceed, Miss Montgomery" he said looking at me and I took a deep breath in.

"I would like my client to be cleared of all charges for the following reasons. First, she knew my mother and she knew who my father was but still chose to hide it from Voldemort, even her husband and son. If she had become a Death Eater, knowingly, she wouldn't have done that. Second, she has helped me countless times, when I was kidnapped and held captive at the Manor. Third and I think, the sole reason that might be enough for her clearance, she lied to the Dark Lord, that Harry Potter was dead when he actually wasn't" I said handing the respective documents to the officer.

"Now, whatever my client did, over the years, was for the protection of and the love towards her family. She even saved me at the Battle of Department of Mysteries, when I was cornered by Fenrir Greyback, she shot a spell at him and saved my life" I said looking at her and smiling.

"Witches and Wizards of Wizengamot, with the evidence in front of you, I give you 15 minutes to come to a decision"

After waiting for 15 minutes, the judge said, "Those in favor of conviction" No one raised their hands.

"Those in favor of clearing the accused of all charges" he asked, which he shouldn't because everyone was going to go with the second choice.

"Cleared of all charges" he said and banged the gavel once.

Name – Lucius Malfoy

Case No. – M08641

The case that I was dreading to do. Not because I didn't want to. No, because I was nervous that I didn't have enough evidence.

The judge arrived and banged the gavel three times.

"Trial as of 23rd June into the crimes committed by Lucius Malfoy. Interrogators – Christian Cox, Head of Auror Office and prosecutor – Eli Roth" he said looking at the paper in his hand.

"Can I just say, it is an honor to have you, Miss Montgomery, in my court" he said looking at me.

"My pleasure, Your Honor. It's an honor to be assigned to a judge like you" I said smiling widely and buttering the judge. I needed to win this case.

Phew! At least, the judge is my fan.

"The charges against the accused are as follows – being a Death Eater and following his doing in the Battle of the Department of Mysteries and Battle of Hogwarts, escaping from Azkaban and opening the Chamber of Secrets" he said and looked at Lucius.
