Summary:
Addams do everything they do with a burning passion, regardless if it's killing and maiming or loving. Loving, especially, and Morticia explains this to Enid

"Take a walk with me?" Morticia asks Enid on the werewolf's third day staying with the Addams over school break.

Enid accepts, Wednesday busy somewhere probably inflicting serious harm on her brother, and the two walk out to the graveyard beside the mansion. In between the tombstones, and Enid feels her skin starting to crawl even in the company of who she has come to know as the kindest woman in the universe.

"My daughter thinks very fondly of you", Morticia speaks up, gazing out dreamingly over the tombstones.
"I am very fond of her, too", Enid says.
Morticia turns to her.
"I- I love her", Enid adds, suddenly nervous.
"Have you told her this?" Morticia asks, a sharpness to her voice.
Enid doesn't respond. Sure, Wednesday's family have known all about Wednesday's courting of her, but Enid feels some things not even her family should know of.

Morticia sighs.
"I just don't want her to get hurt", she says.
Enid stares at her, wide eyed.
"You don't want the Wednesday Addams to get hurt...?" she asks, stunned.
Now Morticia seems confused.
"It's just funny, because all my friends warned me Wednesday would break my heart, but I guess this is turning into you telling me how you'll kill me if I do that to her", Enid says with a headshake.

Morticia almost seems insulted.
"Enid! Of course not!"
"Right, sorry..."
"My daughter is very capable of killing you herself", Morticia explains matter-of-factly.
"Of course..."
"I just don't think she ever would, and I know for sure she would never allow any harm to be done to you", Morticia quickly continues.

Enid relaxes, her shoulders dropping and her heart leaping in her chest.

Morticia continues:
"Us Addams don't do anything half-heartedly. We go all in or not at all", she says.
Enid nods.
"Trust me, I have come to understand that", she says.
The statue they have come up to, a life-sized one depicting Gomez on his knees kissing his wife's arm, proves it further.
"That includes when we love someone. It is, of course, even more so if you're born from our blood", Morticia continues, gazing at the statue.
"Like Wednesday", Enid murmurs.

It is making sense, every word. Enid may not have seen it properly when they started dating, but every word is making sense. Wednesday has been clingy and anxious, be it in her own Wednesday-y way. If she is anything like what Enid has seen of Gomez, she will need a lot more affection than she has ever shown interest in.

"There is a tradition, when the union is official, the Addams will bring their spouse the heart of an animal", Morticia says.
Enid chuckles.
"That is- Wait, you are serious!?"
"Naturally. The heart is a symbol of you giving your heart and love to that person."
Enid thinks it through.
"It is romantic, I guess. In a way", she says.
Morticia's lips turn into a smile.
"My dear Gomez presented me with the heart of a dove he shot himself."
"Right...", Enid says, a little disgusted.

Morticia approaches the statue.
"I don't know what I would have done without him, mon cher...", she says.

"TISH, THAT'S FRENCH!" Gomez calls from a distance, followed by the sound of a window shattering, presumably from Gomez throwing himself out it.
"I see what you mean...", Enid tells Morticia.

Leaving the lovers to it, she goes back into the mansion, pulling one of the nooses, calling for Lurch.
"You raaaa-", Lurch starts, clearly suprised to see Enid.
"We're going shopping", Enid announces to him.

"There you are", Wednesday says when Enid enters her bedroom later that day, swinging the grocery store bag back and forth.

Wednesday's bedroom at her parents' house is just as dark and gloomy as Enid had expected, sparse in furniture and a creepy collection of doll parts and sharp tools scattered all around. The queen sized bed stands in the middle, a guillotine blade suspended above the headboard.

Wednesday puts the ax she has been sharpening aside and rises from the bed.
"I ran an errand. I have something for you", Enid says.
"I will await your gift with longing", Wednesday says, Enid's cheeks heating up as she goes over to Wednesday and hands her the bag.

Wednesday reaches down into it, and Enid's stomach suddenly flips with nerves. Wednesday slowly pulls out the frozen plastic package.
"What, exactly, is it?" she asks.
"It's a deer heart", Enid responds.
Wednesday instantly lifts her gaze.
"Frozen, and not killed by me", Enid continues.
Wednesday's staring only intensifies.
"Your mum told me about the family courting ritual. I know it's usually a member of your family who gives the heart, but I thought, hey, why no-", Enid starts, only to get interrupted as Wednesday makes a move to kiss her.

Enid steps back, and the terror on Wednesday's face shatters her heart.
"No, no, my Raven, it's just-", Enid tries to explain, gesturing to the frozen heart Wednesday is still holding in her hands that she doesn't want near her.
Wednesday tosses it aside, carelessly, grabbing Enid and dipping her down as she kisses her. Keeping her dipped as she pulls away, staring down at her.
"Enid, are you sure? I will be bonded to you forever, I will love you deeply for the rest of our existence."
Enid's face breaks out into a huge smile.
"Sounds wonderful."

Wednesday kisses her again.
